Most people on this site can speak English and Somali, some speak Norwegian/Swedish/Dutch ontop of English and Somali as a result of growing up in those countries.

Italian is one of the few languages I shy away from because of their history in Somalia and that it's not really useful.

My macalin and my sister's macalin used to speak Arabic amongst each other just to brag that they can.

I think it can be useful especially for reading early historical documents about Somalia. I’ve heard libraries in Roma hold info about Somalia.

For monolingual anglophones but Somali and Arabic share a lot of vocabulary and are in the same language family so it's much easier to learn for us. Still hard tho.
