Somalis live in the border area between Garissa and Isiolo county, specifically Kina subcounty of Isiolo. The area is an active front with the most recent battles in 2019 when the Oromo were pushed back and OG settled far into Kina subcounty.

isiolo was dulbahante and isaaq exclusive town during colonial period but they are minority now. Bantu and Orma are the majority in Tana river

How did Somalis become a minority in isiolo what happened

There is still sizable Harti and Isaaq population numbers there. Plus Cawlayahan (Oagden) is roughly 70KMs away. In the recent elections, Somalis were actually making substantial gains in Isiolo.

That being said, most of urbanized Isaaq and Harti were moving to Nairobi, other Kenyan major towns, EU, North America, and Australia. The ones who leave Isiolo never move back. To the contrary, Borana stay put in the county and have their population numbers increasing.

I think the native Somalis need to start reinvesting or invite Somalis from nfd to come and settle with them seems like we’re loosing land everywhere
