Her family were shocked when she told them that she wanted to go to Somalia to practice her profession. They told her there is conflict, drought and famine in Somalia. Her Somali friend encouraged her to come over to Mogadishu telling her that there is 24/7 cheap electricity in Mogadishu. After a year living in Somalia she says the opportunity and living standard in Mogadishu is good and the pay is better than most Arab countries. She hopes to learn Somali and apply for Somali nationality as she intends to permanently live in Somalia. She says that Somalia is developing fast and that soon the whole world would be coming here to do projects and business.

My Aunt got her teeth done by a Syrian doctor in Mogadishu, and they literally crumbled and fell out within 8 months. I am guessing they were using cheap replacements

nothing, they just know Somalis will treat them kindly so they come here. They are beggars in a sense. You should see how many are loitering around in Berbera and Bosaso living off handouts from Somali people. They don't even bother to learn the language

You do know that Yemen had an open border policy for Somalis for several years.

Syria as well accepted thousands of Somalis.

Open Border =/= Equal treatment. They don't deserve a single thing, Yemenis are known for their hatred of Somalis, they even sided with Ethiopia against during the 77' war.

They shouldn't be working jobs that young qualified Somalis should be working in. They are taking positions away from the younger generations. Also most of them aren't as qualified as you'd think. If roles were reversed you would NEVER see a Somali bragging about nice he's treated in Syria/Yemen and how he has a decent profession.

1. Only South Yemen, which was a USSR satellite state sided with Ethiopia.

2. Many Somalis were given Yemeni citizenship.

3. Many Somalis worked as doctors, nurses etc in Yemeni hospitals.

4. Many Somalis, like myself, have good experiences of Yemen.

Half of my family lived in Yemen and I spent time there in my youth. Don’t talk about topics which you know little walaal.

No that’s not true, there was a distinction made in the Italian census between arab sub clans that lived in Somalia for a long time and recent Arab immigrants to Somalia. The latter were 15 % of the population of xamar.

Yemenis are walaalo with us. For every Yemeni that dislikes Somalis, there is a Somali that dislikes Yemenis.

However, most of them you meet understand that the bond between both nations is unlike that of any other country.
