Motorcyclists are, on average, 76 times more likely to be killed and 28 times more likely to be injured in a crash than drivers of other vehicles.
Depends on what you wanna do with it.What's a good beginner bike? Is it worth getting if you live in an apartment?
Too many freaky accidents. It just takes one wrong turn or someone to hit you, and it's a wrap.
At least with a car you're insulated by being inside metal and even then you are at risk. Imagine all that's protecting you is a little helmet and some padding.
ok thanks for the detailed reply. will look into the japanese brands. Btw which bike do you have currently and which one did you start with.Depends on what you wanna do with it.
Wanna go fast? Get a sports bike. Kawi Zx6 or 10/Yamaha R6 or R1 - etc etc
Wanna cruise? Get a sports cruiser or adventure bike - Bmw GS or Honda with their Africa twins
I'd personally stay away from most non Japanese stuff tho.
Just isn't worth it in my opinion.
As for the apartment issue that's also not a deal breaker.
When I started riding, I worried about that myself until I figured out a way to make my stuff almost theft proof.
You can buy rotor locks that attach to both your front & rear wheel. Some are stronger than others but they prevent people from just rolling away with ur bike due to them preventing the wheels from moving, (Unless u break the lock). On hardened rotor locks that isn't an easy task.
U could also get the thickest security chain u could comfortably lug around with u.
Secure it to a fence post or some type of immovable object & ur good.
U need power tools to break & cut stuff like hardened metal.
The average thief ain't tryna risk an ass whoopin or gettin popped over an overly secured motorcycle.
It's worth it. They're alot more fun than cars.
And the fuel efficiency they provide

It is scary you are right. I will try it out first at a school to see if its for me. My city is very wide everything is spread out was thinking it would be fun to go places driving is pretty boring for me nowadays. If you're attentive your wits & reflexes most times will save u on a bike.
That's definitely my story.
The only time I've flirted with death in my life was due to a car accident when I was younger.
Some wild movie shit to.
The car flipped 3 or 4 times in the air @ about 70mph & landed on the roof.
I looked like a freed pokemon tryna bust my way out that car when I realized I was still alive.
Still think about it to this day.
A car insulates you yes .. but it also traps u.
A bike will buck u off usually & throw u somewhere.
Had more than a few close calls on bikes but never ate dirt
& I'm talking REAL close calls like doing shit on the road I had NO BUSINESS doing.
Helmets these days are safe ASF.
Even some of the riding gear (jackets/pants) can balloon on impact to save u from road rash & broken bones. $$$$
Still scary nonetheless tho.
Don't knock it till u try it

Allaha unaxaristo to your friend. You are right there is a lot new drivers. I see many using their phones on tiktok while driving that is scary for bikers. When did you start riding bikes?I used to but sold my bike last year. One of my friends died in a motorcycle accident in 2023. Too many darbi kaboods in my city these days so itβs not worth it.
Damn you got good tasteMy boy came over to my house one day unexpectedly with a brand new 4 wheeler/quad. Like early high school.
A Yamaha Raptor 660.
He taught me how to ride.. but like 4 months into it we went out into the sand pits trying to learn how to jump.View attachment 362018
It really had me like this bra.
Landed on me & all!
Not about that life so I moved on to safer pastures
Two wheels only.

It's big down south.Theirs a whole culture around it.
Seeing dudes hold wheelies without deleting themselves & spinning out everywhere turned me into a fanboy fr.
My 1st sport bike was a GSX-R 600
I've had a 750 Suzuki, & a few 1000cc bikes. A cbr & my last 1000 was a Suzuki.
Haven't rode in a while.
I messed my bike up a few years ago playing around on the highway & my chain broke the bottom end of the motor when it snapped.
Took out a whole chunk of metal.
It's collecting dust. A 2015 Yamaha r1
Gotta work up the spirit to rebuild it one day but I have much bigger priorities to tend too these days.
I'll find a way tho, cars are so boring & I miss riding so much.
Was just talking to my nephew about this yesterday.
Figure out what u want & take ur cash to a private seller bra.
Bike dealerships are crooks.
Get u a bike & take it to an empty parking lot to learn how to clutch & brake correctly.
That way when it's time to get ur license u already know what's up & u don't spend more than u have to on those classes.
Get some proper gear & enjoy life.
It hits different on 2 wheels v
Raw vibes
Airblade i will look goofy in that one scooter waayaI drove motorbikes, but I do not recommend driving them in a car-dominated big city. It is very dangerous.
I'd recommend something easy like the Honda Airblade or a cheap Yamaha. When you are comfortable with that, you can transition into something more like a real motorcycle.
Mostly East Asia. Bikes are great, but you gotta start small. I've seen too many accidents.Airblade i will look goofy in that one scooter waaya
Where did you used to ride them in Africa or europe/N america?
2017Allaha unaxaristo to your friend. You are right there is a lot new drivers. I see many using their phones on tiktok while driving that is scary for bikers. When did you start riding bikes?
