Guys, I have been in the diaspora for too long(close to 20 now) and to be honest, I never felt at home or at peace with my surroundings throughout my time out side Somalia.

I never intended or planned to stay in the Qurbo this long, I was basically waiting for Somalia to fix up but I guess it didn't, but then I came to realize recently that the reason Somalia is failed still is because all the people that were supposed to fix up are just like me watching from the sidelines and expecting others to do their job,so I decided to do my part and go back.

I will be to 40 in 2 years and if I don't do it now I m afraid it will be impossible to do later, which brings me the question of this thread, What can I do as Somali diaspora returnee to help Somalia and Puntland in general? I want to something that can have the biggest impact on the normal lives of all sorts Somalis?

Something that can bring a sudden change to our dysfunctional and selfishness and promotes accountability, patriotism, helping each other and such, I want everyone of us to realize we are liable and responsible for our failures, I mean a nation and it'ssociety can't move forward untill each and everyone contributes to the society, isnt that right?

As a part one of the wealthiest families of Bossaso, I can make things happen both in the private sector or in PL government circle,so why not,i plan to target and strongly symptize with the unfortunate and poor children, women and minorities in our country then followed by the environment such trees, animals and the fish.

Been here longer, went to Somalia last year and the people there are more dangerous than the crazy cadaans we have in America.
It's good you are moving to a place where your kinfolk will make majority, even then, invest in an Ak47.
If I didn't have kids, I would not move out of America.

So I far I thought of this.......

1. A free self sufficient boarding school in Somalia for unprivileged kids, the school will have a farm and solar panels and it be locate preferably close to the sea, it would have a boarding for both male & females, this way no kids would be forced to be CHILD soldiers and Mooryaans for clans and Alshabaab, kids will do light chores at the farm weekly

C'mon America is more dangerous than Somalia and specially here in Texas, also I would be In PL, it is completely safe and no such things happens there, I don't need AK47 sxb, I am trying to be like a Somali version of Gandi or play the role o Mother Therese so I can't be carrying a gun, lo

Abaayo walahi, I troll here a lot and play this Qabyaaliste oday nut job as my online persona, but in real life I am a sensitive and innocent Miskiin, I grow up surrounded by poor Somali IDPs all around me in Bossaso, some of them were my friends and are still stuck there living off under a quarter of a dollar a day.

I would say start Trades craft vocational school for construction, industrial, commercial fishing and farming.

That will quickly make them rich and will have snowball effect on the economy But alas, they mostly want to be Desk Potatoes for an NGO, Hawala or bust.

If I set up a Greenhouse,as someone who knows himself I would most likely add few potent Marijuana trees for my personal use and when the vegetable greenhouse fails to profit I will probably turn the whole thing into a Marijuana grow house.:silanyosmile:

But seriously I have thought of this before because I can get hold of California's O.G kush seeds easily can and make Somalia's backward khatheeads switch to th real greener and wavey side instead.

Marijuana is a healthier alternative for khat, the cons outweigh the pros when it comes to distributing that shit. Alcohol and cannabis is treated as an endemic in PL.

You should start a frankincense exporting business, use your Bari connections and American passport to do some networking and cold calling with potential US buyers, work with NGOs to import to the US. start a cooperative that sets a fixed price, so they don't get screwed over by people like that crackhead in the Vice doc. You would have direct impact on thousands of lives and support thousands of jobs.

Hol'up! Are we turning this to a recreational thread?
If you don't have savings, like 300K, don't bother going. Somalia needs investment in the mining sector

I am sure you know if you do your homework on starting a high profit margin business and have Seed Money AKA Startup Capital and the drive to succeed, you can woo investors.

You would be surprised how much money people are sitting on back home cuz they don't like to park it in a Bank and collect interest.

Like I used to think my late granny , AUN was poor and did send her some $$ here n there but recently found out that she bequeathed this prime real state that is worth about $60k to me.

So it's not all or nothing if u got the gist of my blabber.
