Somalis are traditionally split as

1. Urban
2. Desert
3. Farming
4. Coastal

The largest armed forces come from 'desert' areas, their trained in harsh environment historically and continously fight in tough conditions, this gives them an edge against 'farmers' who are settled and not used to this type of warfare and why the northern clans can send 500 boys to each area and control their districts as their won't be much resistance, they can then use them as 'recruits' to do hit n runs as their more useful in 'hit n runs' but not in 'conventional' style war as they will get 'owned' if the opponent is a 'northern' clan.
