Amisom won't withdraw from Somalia in 2021. They will get an extension

Amisom is set to withdraw it's troops from Somalia next year, but this won't happen and I'm pretty sure their mission will be extended. Here is why.
1) most of the international community and african union want amisom to stay. South african and Russia spoke about extending the mission for at least one year because of the impact of covid here is a link. https://www.securitycouncilreport.org/whatsinblue/2020/05/african-union-mission-in-somalia-amisom-reauthorisation.php
2) the SNA is too weak and too divided on qabil lines to fight the terrorists. The moment amisom leaves the terrorist will take over Mogadishu and I'm pretty sure most underpaid soldiers have ZERO motivation to fight back, they'll probably surrender within days. SNA also has no equipment cause somalia is under an weapon embargo, the turkish trained troops are just to show off and sill probably be useful only for some special operations but not to retake territory from the terrorists.
3)Amisom soldiers earn a lot of money, their wages are much higher than what they would get in Uganda or Burundi. Amisom is designed to maintain the status quo. You can clearly see amisom has done nothing in yhe last 5-6 years , they are just defending their bases. Uganda, Burundi, Kenya etc want their soldiers to stay in somalia indefinitely and have ZERO motivation to actually fight the terrorists and leave. After all theu are peacekeeping mission, and most of these types of missions don't care about eliminating the threat.

So when will Amisom withdraw? I don't know but it won't happen in the Next 5-10 days, a modern army could destroy AS in a few months if they wanted but the point is that they don't want to.

3 drones could end Al shabab. $20m investment for a long term peace is worth it. But they'll still be corrupt and steal the money.

The US has been using drones and they managed to kill civilians
even Turkey is a big player in this field yet here we are

The US trusts the kurds to direct their attacks but not the SNA huh
Well they don't trust the SNA with heavy weapons so they won't trust them with drones.
I guess drones also require training and not many somalis have the training to operate that kind of equipment

I am not sure of the details but i dont think they let others operate their drones

I Believe even kenya does operate some drones but most of the times it's done by the americans.
Even now with the war in Ethiopia the drones are from the UAE.

It's all so tiresome

We don't need no drones or help from a modern army.

We just need an intelligence agency not controlled by AS.

Either way without heavy investment SNA aint doing much
And amison leaving in this volatile times with the rona and elections aint helping much

Yes I agree fully, they won't just simply leave they're making huge profit from being there, their justification will be that the SNA is too ill equipped to handle Al Shabab on its own mark my words

Definitely Agree. AMISOM won't leave anytime soon. Don't expect our arms embargo to be lifted either.

AMISOM will not be here forever protecting us from us. We have to eventually trust ourselves to handle our business. I hope it’s sooner than later :)

Exactly. It's a viscous circle
They won't leave because SNA is too iol equipped but they won't give SNA the equipment because Somalia is under embargo.
Pretty obvious they are doing this on purpose

It's not ill equipped so much as disorganised Al shabab don't have good equipment either they use what they capture with inferior weapons.

It's true, disorganization in the sense that soldiers have no attachment to the army or the country.
A lot of new troops are there but do you know if they are being deployed I see photos of them but not deployment maybe the government is planning something.
