It was built in 1934 when king Umberto 1 of Italy visited Mogadishu.

It is has been now converted into a tacky mall called Mogadishu mall.

These kind of buildings also built by Italians in Asmara are well preserved and considered as world heritage sites, iconic structures to be celebrated and preserved for mankind.

In anarchic and poverty stricken Somalia, converting these monuments into 100 stores that sell the same Chinese trinkets makes more sense I guess, but what a loss, both for Somalis and the world.
