It’ll be interesting if KG change their ban on dealing with Shabaab. A lot of times governments claim they made no deal but the elders work on their behalf

It is possible that Laftagareen sent the elders to go sort out the situation and is just saying this for PR reasons.

Also I'm hearing rumours that the Go'doon was lifted due to Reer Gedo and not Reer SWS as the road from Muqdisho to Gedo passes through Baidoa and their trucks were also being held in Berdaale region. That's also a possibility too.

Mashallah seige has been lifted many lives will be saved
I was worried about how this situation would unfold
Alhamdulilah. I am happy as well. But the reality is there needs to be a long term solution on how to eliminate arsenal from south west.

The fact that they can just put sanctions on Baidoa whenever they want is unacceptable.

Shabaab tried to let Gedo trucks through from Xamar and even into baydhabo but still stop the baydhabo ones. I think there was a khilaaf and that was unsustainable, could’ve caused an uprising among RX Shabaab

There is also rumours that the shabaab had some infighting in the Daynuunay region. The shabaab from the Marehan clan and Hawiye as well as Reewin Al shabaab had a disagreement on the Go'doon.

The Marehan and Hawiye shabaab supported the go'doon while the Reewin Shabaab didn't and they started fighting. The fighting for really bad and there were losses on both sides.

This could be the reason why it was lifted as well to keep shabaab unity. I personally would love shabaab to infight. Even if they split into qabiils. This will weaken them. Eventually it will happen apparently they already don't trust each other.

Your right bro. Koonfur in general is where the problem is and solving them will better Somalia a lot. Also koonfur galbeed is basically neighbours with the capital so it's a big benefit to get peace and stability there.

Yh i saw the same stuff. In fact some of the deaths SNA is claiming is probably from Shabaab infighting. I doubt they had the power to remove the blockade unless a proper ground phase began. A few airstrikes isn’t going to change things for Shabaab, they don’t even need to enforce the blockade, just threaten businessman and traders they’ll assassinate them

I personally used to be against the idea of macawiisley. But I've realised the only way to defeat these guys is through that.

The issue is Laftagareen won't allow SW to have macawiisley due to him fearing for his seat but at the same time hes not fighting shabaab. It's a mushkila.

You have the Madoobe problem lol. It’s too hard to get rid of Shabaab with SNA. Look at that the Galguduud front compared to how fast Hirshabelle was being liberated last year.

I used to be a laftagareen supporter but I'm starting to but my support is weakening seeing he isn't putting in any effort for the fight against AS.

But the way it's looking Laftagareen has no intention of holding fair elections. I'm hearing rumours he has blocked other Siyaasis from coming to Baidoa and Is planning to hold Axmed madoobe style elections where he will be the winner. It looks like he will be the next president for the SW for the next five years.

There’s too many heavyweight KG politicians and they’ll likely get FGS support. It’ll be much harder than Madoobe who has Kismayo in the middle of Shabaab with no route there from Xamar and his own port to fund financial blockade.

LG has lost support from last year and hasn’t had interference from FGS so hasn’t got anyone to blame. He’s gonna have another year which will make everyone more impatient

The issue is those KG heavyweights have lost a lot of support. Especially when the Baraawe situation happened they stayed quiet and never spoke out on it.

Another reason why Sharif sakiin and Farkeeti have lost support is because after the dib u heshiisiin they left Baidoa and went back to Mogadishu. A lot of Reewins are starting to question their qadiyad and support laftagareen more.

Laftagareens intentions is to hold a election just not a fair one. We will see though the influence the FGS can have.

I personally wouldn't mind laftagareen staying As long as he fights shabaab. If he wont fight shabaab then it's better for someone new to come

Is this confirmed?
It’s reported by Hussein Abdulle of SYL Media, he’s a good in the know reporter and has links to government officials, elders and businessman.

He says KG agreed with the businessman to allow them to deal with Shabaab till they can guarantee their security
