This will be Somalia in the future if we don't get our shit together.

200 years...A lot can happen in that period of time. In 1818, slavery was still legal and widespread across the planet. In 1818, much of Africa and South Asia lived in peace. In 1818, it was England that was a smelly shithole overflowing with contagious urban diseases and smallpox. In 1818, we were an land yet to be poisoned and lived by Islamic code carried out by our sultans. I'd like to think in 2218, when every other part of the world's resources have been dried up, our nation will be home to some important commodity equivalent to modern-day oil and we'll thrive as a result.

In 50 years and Somalia will become exactly like North Africa (Algeria and Egypt) in most aspects.

Turbulent but mostly stable politics, stable currency, tourism hotspot and a lot of our people will be fully integrated into the West.

The Bantus will be like Berbers and will remain a protected but wary minority.

Arabs will form around 10-15% of Somalia's population as qabiilka carab salaax and other Arabs will be attracted to Somalia's proximity to the Middle East.

Allahu aclam...

If I guess, it will be like united with some of the East African countries...

Prolly no qabiil and stuffs like that....

:wow: it will resemble countries like the gulf ones+ better than them...

Keep in mind, the somalis would be like half % of the populations with so many half somalis wandering around downtown Mogadishu. Imagine Oromos, habesha, kikuyus, tutsis, zulus bashaaling/enjoying themselves in Lido or Jazeerah beach?.:ohlord: cause the country will be like a visa free country, brainwashed by descendants of of Julius Malema(Wakandan Unity) and all qashin would travel there for bashaal, stays

.. the language may be extinct for all we know.. lemme stop imagining... it's getting to be hurtful describing it:wow1:

We kill all our neighbours eat their children and drink their blood. Feast on their misery, we'll recapture our lands, and take even more. The soil will be red from their blood and become even more fertile than it has ever been.

I think something major is going to happen. A crazy leader always rise from the rubble when a people suffer for too long. For every action there's a reaction. And people always become extreme when they feel they got power. So when hard headed desperate somalis get drunk on real power, they will start going crazy.
History repeat's itself. And as we know from history, there is no limit to human savagery.:denzelnigga:

Somalia's civil war started at the same time as the internet. Worst time ever imo.

Majority of the internet users grew up only knowing Somalia as a failed state.

In 50 years when we reach 1st world standards a lot of people would still be scared of visiting Somalia for tourism or business.

We'll always will be seen as the country that couldn't get it's shit together for 30 years because that all they heard while growing up.

Even in the future, Somalis will be seen as potential space pirates if we ever join the rest of the world there.

When the first Somali visits the ISS; the people there would clean up the station of all it's valuebles just in case.

That factor only matters if you are looking to attract tourist from western countries. People from the rest of the world usually has more tolerance for instability and fluctuating political strife. People invest in things that has value, and we only need to appeal to the people that show interest. As long as we have our numbers correct and our internal power structures and economy right, then our reputation will become better. One thing you can count on is, peoples memory is very short term focused, so people won't even remember how miserable the country was. People won't remember the old somalia when they can get cheap flights and can swim on our beautiful beaches and eat the fish the pirates tried so hard to protect.

If you rebrand your business and approach the market with a new strategy, then people are forced to look at you differently. Just like if you wear nice clothes and you smell nice, people will treat you different than if you walk around dirty.

I wish that was the case.

That's the reason I emphasized the rise of the internet at the same time as our downfall. It's seared into the collective memories of everyone in the world.

Short term memory only applies to short term events like the Rwandan genocide.

However, Somalia is still a shit hole even after 27 years.

Only thing could help us rebrand is an economic miracle on the scale as the Asian tigers or Japan... who the west hated back in the day.

Remember that economic development starts step by step and if we're starting from such a low base in terms of reputation we would have to work 10x as hard as everyone else.

In other words, we can't afford a single mistake in development or everyone gets reminder of the old Somalia and reconsider their future FDI plans in Somalia when there are so much other options around.

This could lead to a down spiral rather quickly.

Frontier & emerging markets already have such a high risk premium attached to them and Somalia might be in its own category altogether.

I agree. The amount of work that is needed must be impeccable and super collective like south korea after the war.

North east asian cultures favours the collective mindsets so they can more easily work towards a common goal much more effective than any other people. They are also industrious and disciplined. They get indoctrinated through their whole life and this gets specially cultivated in schools.

Mexican proverb: "They tried to bury us, they didn't know we were seeds"

Still have great hope for Somalia. All we need is some competent leadership and most Somalis will end up falling in line.

We're actually as collectivist as Asians but quickly fall apart if we lose confidence in our leadership.
