I found this theory(not proven) interesting, I always knew Somalis below the river and Somalis above the river are not the same culture, thinking, politics. Is it possible due to climate like the above video promotes that cultures and groups are formed by societies who share a common climate and therefore will have a common identity? Desert People, Forest people, mountain people, grass land people is the climate zones of Africa as a whole. What this doesn't explain is why are the south not united? or the north not united? if climate is the reason? it also said due to the various climate it created small groups and these small groups wouldn't combine into one force or community as they had strict borders and considered each other different communities as they don't live in the same environment nor speak the same language.

Africa's problem was its climate, size, and lack of a centralized authority.

Africa is mostly tropical, so people can just survive by being hunter-gatherers 24/7, which means Africans weren't forced to adapt and be innovative, unlike white people. Africa is also ridiculously large for its small population, which is why a real Empire in Subsaharan Africa was almost unheard of.

Unluckily for Somalis, we had to border 1 of them in Abyssinia

Africa wasn't always dry, just 10,000 years and every cycle it that preceded it changed the environment. Even the sahara and the horn was completely green with rivers and lakes. The climate changes every 10,000 years.

Hell even the persian gulf didn't exist 10,000 years ago, it's amazing how things change over time. Climate change is not a new phenomenon.
