Accepting the Truth and Abandoning the Falsehood from All the Groups Out There
By Bassam ZawadiIbn Taymiyyah in his Minhaj us-Sunnah said:
واللهُ قد أمرنا ألا نقول عليه إلا الحق، وألا نقول عليه إلا بعلم،وأمرنا بالعدل والقسط، فلا يجوز لنا إذا قال يهودي أو نصراني -فضلاً عن رافضي- قولاً فيه حق؛ أن نتركه، أو نرده كله، بل لا نرد إلا ما فيه من الباطل، دون ما فيه من الحق..
“Allah has commanded that we say nothing about Him, except the truth. And that we do not speak about Him, except with knowledge. He ordered us to be just and fair. It is not permissible for us to abandon or completely reject the truth spoken by a Jew, Christian, let alone a Raafidi. Rather, we only reject what is false from what they say while accepting what is true...”
He then goes on to say…
ولهذا لم نرد ما تقوله المعتزلة والرافضة من حق، بل قبلناه...
“That is why we do not reject the truth of what the Mu’tazilites and Raafidis have said, rather we accept it…”
Ibnul Qayyim in his Tareeq al-Hijratayn said:
فإن كل طائفة منها؛ معها حق وباطل، فالواجب موافقتهم فيما قالوه من الحق، ورد ما قالوه من الباطل
“Every group from amongst them (i.e., groups of bid’ah such as the Murji’a, Khawarij, etc.,) has truth and falsehood. It is obligatory on us to agree with them on those things they have said which are true and to reject the false things which they have said.”
