Traditionally somali towns and villages were walkable with small alleys pathways and vibrant markets dotting the street corner. However now roads have taken over in new somali builds. Its not meant to be for people but its for cars now. Everything abt these new projects are massive waste of space that dont help anyone. This really bad mentality has affected all somalis we dont care abt ourselves anymore as individuals and as a collective. What can we do. No one has compassion and empathy anymore.

Man, I am glad someone else sees how crapy our cities becoming. The problem is there is no proper urban planning.
People are getting away with building anything anywhere, weird color combs, and the destruction of historic places. In Mogadishu, that old charm is getting replaced with a boring building
if the government cant even save starving children, make toilets and stop wasting and stealing all our money at least they can do what every quasi dictators do an buils actually nice and attractive cities. However, this should not be our main priority. Our main priority is to fix the lazy and devisive attitude of somalis, lift ppl from extreme poverty disease and starvation, education, gender equality and hopefully on the future we can start to progress into being on the right trajectory. The historic parts of Merca, Brawa and Mogadishu can be made to look like this and it will generate money for the people
Tbh this looks good but it looks a bit rickety. I think it needs a couple more licks of paint. we need a sewage and draining system within the cities. Also invest in some agriculture. Garowe is huge and expanding for example but it’s too dry it’s a god damn desert
I wonder how much it would cost to install sewage and drainage systems in an already built city, always wondered that?
A place like Garowe can actually implement proper infrastructure since it's growing.

Lack of waste disposal is a major problem in Xamar. Most people make underground barkhads and holes where they store the waste water/general waste. But when it rains (and it rains often), the waste seeps through the ground and creates a huge stink all over the city.
Plus, since theres no sewage system, water floods the streets and puts the waste EVERYWHERE. I've seen entire ROADS completely blocked off by this disgusting poop water
