It is better not to send money to these idiots . If we all required from our relatives to work and study, and make those requirements necessary for any help we provide to them, not only them but Somalia would have done better long ago.

Heres the thing There are Jobs back home But nobody wants to work in construction paint houses, waiter etc cause the youth back home their definition of work is sitting in a Office Delegating orders

I admire the youth back home that despite the countries issues work one Guy I know was selling shoes on the market now he got a cab business 2 cars and Two people working for him

Meanwhile this other kids go on tahriib or threaten their poor parents that they Will tahriib if they dont buy them a car

For educated folks who have a degree there are little jobs back home for them . Teaching/tutoring is their best bet for a profession because that's one of the only jobs that you dont need qabiil connections. Their other option is entry level jobs like waiter, etc like you said. They can work their way up but It's depressing to think i can go home and would be easily recruited with my passport and a degree whereas the youth who live there are struggling to find anything unless they have family/qabiil connections

Isn’t most of the youth that tahriibed from Somaliland?

For those of you guys criticizing these youths, it isn’t as black and white as you guys make it seem. :manny:

No, the vast majority of them are in parts of the country the Libyan govt does not have control or access to. It's misleading to say 5000 of them refused lol.

Its true back home they favour people from qurbaha more But back home they look Down on Jobs beneath them like waiter and other stuff If you got a degree back home and dont find a job in that field its better to do something rather than doing nothing

Ridiculous. It is these jobs that are the backbone of civilisation, construction weliba. They are the most honourable jobs imo. They are also very technical and educational. construction will be a heavy sector in somalia as it industrialises. :mahubowtf:. There will be tons of jobs for construction.

Lol the house is nice But all the money they earn Will not go back into the country they Will send majority of their money back home

I have given my European passport to relatives my age in Somalia and they have used it to fly directly to Europe. No need for risky boat trips.

"Ahmed Abdikarim Nur, commissioner of refugees and internally displaced persons of the Somali government said 99 percent of the people who are traveling are young people, and the youngsters are particularly reluctant to go back.

“They feel they spent all their parent’s wealth, and possibly they did not tell their parents when they started traveling to Libya, so they feel they have nowhere to return to, they are traumatized,” he said."

Most of these youth are chasing the mirage that they've had a slight taste of via social media and Western entertainment.

Some of them rob the money for tahrib or leave penniless, knowing that the torture videos sent out by the Libyans will ensure the funds are raised among their family/clan sharpish. Some of the youth even threaten their families with tahriib if they don't get things their way i.e. uni in Malaysia, a car, etc.

I don't want to paint with a broad brush, but a lot of these tahriib journeys are illegitimate. I personally have family members from Bari who've either journeyed without the family's permission or have used it as a threat for a comeuppance.

The funny thing is, the most successful of those who've journeyed, end up working a manual labour job in their host country - the same type of job abundant in a growing Somalia. Imagine using the tahriib expense (often in the tens of thousands) as an initial investment to start a business. Now imagine 1000's of these type of start up investments happening (as 1000's of bribes have already been paid out).

Instead the cash goes to Libyan ruffians, and the traveler gets to join the welfare heaven they always wanted.

Somalis in Libya don’t wanna go home! Can some body tell me why?????!!!!!!!!!
https://reliefweb.int/report/libya/somali-migrants-libya-don-t-want-go-home
Somali government efforts to evacuate a large number of Somali migrants from Libya hit a snag after the delegation sent there was unable to persuade migrants to abandon the dangerous sea journey to Europe and instead return to Somalia.

Maxaad la qeylinaysaa bakhtiyahow islaamdiidka ah.

"Lack of employment opportunities prevents them from putting their energies and creativity to good use and thereby fulfilling their ambitions. This leaves them with a sense of frustration and hopelessness that drives some of them to take desperate measures."

"About 104 international NGOs and UN agencies are now working on different projects in Somaliland; but instead of seeking locals to help in implementing the programmes for which they source funds from donors, about 60 percent of their staff are foreigners. This has had a negative impact on Somaliland youth, many of whom are left with no choice but to leave the country in search of a better life."

"There are many reasons behind the problem of youth unemployment, for example : lack of particular skills, wrong educations system, mismatches between education and needs in labor market"
