Hip Hop is the most popular music in the world .Somalis aren't the only group that look up to rappers . What is the difference between all the Indian kids I went to school and the Somalis ? both groups listened to the same music and tried to desperately sound like Jamaicans , yet one group has a higher percentage of convicts, gang bangers and murder victims .one group, that is , children of Indian migrants , outperforms the other in educational achievement .
If it was simply to do with emulating certain aspects of AA music or lingo , why aren't other communities as affected by gang violence ?
Where I live in London , white kids , blacks kids , Asians etc . All listen to grime Music and speak in slang . I know degree-holding, weed-smoking -professional white Hip Hop heads.... There are more nuances to the issue you are making out .
