This old school mentality will most likely harm the Somali community. This idea of marrying off your kids, especially the daughters off during HS(sometimes) and usually after HS is backwards and doesn't fit the current economical way of life. It worst for men, since they usually won't have any reliable income by 18/19.

Some Somali parents are so insecure in their parenting or just flat out ignorant, that they are scared of their kids doing something bad, so they marry them off early and get them into low income housing, and the bride starts pumping out babies.

Like my man @LarryThePuntite said -- both parties need to build a foundation/wealth before they either get married or decide to have kids.

But it's not the getting married part that could potentially make her a single mother, it's the fact that she's in a relationship with a guy and presumably sleeping with him. Although I dislike these young marriages, it's better than "16 & pregnant" types with non-committed boyfriends in their lives.

I looked online and Diapers, formula and baby food alone is roughly 2448$ per year



If Somalis wanna get married early I think it be better After the marriage they live with their parents til they finished with school and stuff would be like having a halal girlfriend
