This describes Somali situation in 91-2004 when the world turned away, diaspora, only warlord-emerging terrorists were in the land doing extortion and checkpoints inside the town and airport. Their was physically no state, courts, parliament, police, prison, institutions, govt not even at a local scale.
Forget school-hospital not existent(really physically not there only quranic schools in bush kkkkk), black market pharmacies, black market in goods, fraud rampant in any service. 1 hotel in Saxafi with cable news. Homes had no flushing toilet, no water in taps/shower due to sewage-water network looted and sold for scraps. Donkeys brought water and was put in 'boyads' in home, no power or electricity but kerosene lamp, charcoal for cooking.
Buildings especially public or non hawiye clans destroyed or looted with rumors some were buried in their property. Mosque all built with loot money laundered while ppl pray inside it, kids raised in other ppl home while praying/fasting is when I realized hypocrisy is a real concept.
Roads were so damaged mini buses(over packed) would swerve it felt the whole mini bus would roll over. Litter everywhere and even 'shit' at 'liido rock pools'. It was literally like entering a mix of a 15th century medieval nation in term of living standards with a twist of mad max movie in terms of chaos and an absolute authority void no 'active isimo' but only 'warlord authority(lord of war) kkkkk.
U guys think I am exagerrating I only wish I was, you can ask any diaspora who was there in 99 as it was very small amount as most fled or were fleeing the hell not coming back unlesss u were out of the nation since the 70s like my family. Don't bother asking locals who remember this period as it may seem normal to them, ask any diaspora tho and u will get an exact word to word description of this NAKBA ERA.
Politically we are now at least in 4th word trusteeship, state experiment, nation building, political debates, none of that existed in the 91-2004 Nakba era waryaa, maybe your diaspora mind can't actually contemplate what that era means, it means exactly what Saado Ali Song narrates.
