1973 oil crisis, and the assassination of king faisal

As you may know, after the 1973 arab - israeli war, king faisal of saudi arabia (along with countries such as Iran and iraq) cut off all nations deemed to have assisted israel. This included the USA, canada, britain, even japan caught one. This was disastrous to western economies, and although it was lifted in 5 months, oil prices in the us had 4x.

This oil crisis, along with its effects, were a big part of what turbocharged the gulf states to the relative autonomy they enjoy today.

Of course, the whole debacle was a slap to the face of the US, during the cold war. So the story is, the cia trained a member of the saudi family who lived in miami, sent him back to saudi, and he killer faisal. 1975

Since then, Saudi foreign policy has always been neutered, and ive always wanted to learn more about it but its tough to find info on it. I wanna hear if you guys know anything about it

@techsamatar if you know how the 🧃 are involved lmk
