What happened:

militia calling themselves galmudug tried to expand into east galkacyo and were repelled by Puntland forces yesterday on the 23rd. Puntland sucessfully drove the galmudug miltia back to baraxley (south Galkacyo) but they left one of their men behind in east galkacyo and was captured by Puntland forces. He was sent to east galkacyo hospital where he was treated recorded in the vid below, subsequently he was sent back to baraxley.

There was fightings on the 22nd in the area of Godod, eastern Mudug. The tried to trespass in our area and the Godod troops attacked them. They received reinforcement but lost 6 men and few other were injured. On our side only 4 were injured. Here's the Mudug governour talking about it.

Yesterday, as a revenge, they fired two missiles in Gaalkayo that killed a 80 year old woman as the missile hit her home.

Whenever they get their ass kicked in the outskirts, they bring the war to the city of Gaalkayo in the hope to cause as much civilian casualties. They stand no chance in a conventional war as 6 of their soldiers were slayed in a blink of an eye.

You're right theres no way they have a chance in conventional warfare, we saw this in october/nov 2016 when we destroyed them and annexed baraxley before the ceasefire.

Whenever Galkacyo hiccups there’s conflict.

In 5-10 years (My Hunch) is Garcaad will absorb all the residents from northern Galkacyo, leaving the area to be a military buffer zone; Where only goods and people will travel through to konfur and Bari.

Everyone in Nugaal and Bari must help figure out how to solve this problem together. Businesses and people of Northern Galkacyo must be relocated and compensated for this tragic city that is governed by revenage and retribution.

People have even discussed ideas where the farming communities in Mudug should build a centralized industrial agriculture-park for farmers to temporarily live—similar to Oil and Gas camps. Puntlanders can get supplies, access inputs and travel back to thier newly developed northern cities like Garcaad to live with family.

Peace in Galkayo (in the short-mid term) is through complete separation and the patience in maturing Galmudugs system.

In just one sentence you have just demonstrated you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

North, East and West Galkacyo will always be settled by my people. See its stuff like this that gets you accused of being a shegaato, how are you so ignorant of the history of galkacyo that you actually think the people will move out.

A hunch? well its the dumbest i've ever heard

You’re judgement is clouded with emotion and kibiir.

Can you turn down your emotions and read what I just said again?

In 5 years investments will start pouring into Garcaad. People go where they are treated best and live safely. This isn’t your decision it’s the Puntland Market that will decide this. You can’t stop market forces.

Do you think Garcaad deal was just for votes?

Mudug will be restructured by the Markets will not the politicians. Galkcayo will turn into a buffer zone/Industrial Park not a city.

Mark my words, Gaalkayo will turn into a buffer zone 50km wide from Bur Salah to Ceel Dhahanaan in the very near future.

You should start investing in Garcad.

People move in and out of cities depending on where job opportunities are abundant, but this won't translate into a level of reduction in the population you're alluding to. Galkacyo is a permanent settlement, it will remain a city regardless of any external economic factor

Industrial park kulahaa :heh:

Ask yourself is Galkcayo is a sentimental city or a great burden?

People won't be told to leave; they will start leaving on their own and the security forces will replace them.

As soon as investment increases in Garcad, the evacuation and militarization of Galkayo is imminent.

Galkcayo will be like Detroit, but instead of collapsing because of market forces, the people of Northern Galkcayo will just say "f*ck it, we've had enough time to moozy down to a city built for them.

There's nothing in Garacad it's a small settlement whereas Galkayo is the largest town in Central Somalia and situated between Mogadishu Bosaso and Hargaysa. It's a node that connects all those towns and soon Ogaden to the sea. Galkayo will only expand and become larger because of its strategic location. Look at google maps, the lands on the outskirts of town have all been bought.

I'm more familiar with the social dynamics of the city than you are so i can assure you that the people living there will not leave. They stayed put during the height of the civil war in the 90s when the level of militiarisation was much greater than it is now so what makes you think they will move?

The population of Galkacyo is approxiamtely 400,000 with Puntland controlled areas accounting for the majority of this figure. The population of Garacad is a little over 4,000.

You're clealy have no idea of the financial and economic importance of Galkacyo because of its location linking ethiopia north east, north west and the south. How on earth anyone thinks a city as strategically vital as Galkacyo will turn into a buffer zone is mind boggling. You're either delusional or purposefully being disingenuous

Like I said, the market is doing something on its own. Its giving us clues and you should pay attention in order to not miss the boat or be on the wrong side of this opportunity.

What you see is fields, and what the market sees is solar energy fields.

We cannot depend on having Ethiopia hold its finger on your light switch (whole other topic).

That will turn into an industrial park and people will live in a coast town where food can arrive by boat connected to other seaside accessible towns that bring in Agriculture.

Puntlanders cannot view this as a loss of land, or a defeat. This is what the emotional neefs want. The market will move out that city in its entirety to build a bufferzone of peace and nabaad.

Why not just mine the border areas a bit like South Korea and North Korea? so everyone will stay on their side of the tribal border or
get blown up. Leave a small corridor (the main road) as open for trade.

How many times do I have to get this through to you. The only way forward is to buffer Galkayo and offer free land to compensate people for their move.

Do you think the many proposals for Garcaad are soley for a population of 4,000 people? That's a 10% of a hockey game.

Garcad is your new home whether you like it or not. And I won't be the one telling you this, the market will.

Because of import and export. south galkacyo links the south somalia, it makes trade more difficult

Yes that is why I said only leave the road entrance open. Remember most clashes happen in east Mudug and not the small corridor.

The area surrounding Gaalkayo is all inhabited and is full of water wells. The Sacad folks have limited water resources and the big wells in the region is occupied by either MJs or Saleebaans in the area of Hobyo/Xarardheere. Godod alone has 8 big wells. It all boils down to the scarcity of water wells in their area and the abundance in our parts. And no, we will not share.

Godod started as an army base few years ago. Now it's a village with a primary school. It's growing fast. So your notion that Gaalkayo will be a ghost town is false, it's actually expanding.
