I never understand why ppl are so obsessed with Somalia in the 80's, specially when almost 90% of them weren't even born then + it wasn't much different then appart from relative peace but certain ppl will go as far as saying it was the golden days and yap more.

I'm only interested because I would like to know what it looked like before the war happened

It looks the same

Typical third world shithole. This is how you know Somali standards are low. They brag about Italian built buildings and two main roads they paved.

Unfortunately we are now hovering around 5th world status and haven't paved any roads for nearly 3 decades

Apparently she got hooked up with one of her tourist guide or something because she has a biracial child. The one that has posted it.

Even the president thanks her.

@Grant Do you have any more pictures of your stay? Were cameras even common back then? :pachah1:

Araman,

We had cameras but were warned not to take pictures. Many of those who did had rocks thrown at them. I refrained during the first part of my stay, but did take some later on.

You're right. It was Taleex. I never made it to Las Anod.

This is what was posted to Somnet. Not sure you can see it from here, but maybe.....

I will repost if it doesn't work.

Many PC photo collections will be on display at the Somali Museum in Minnesota after this year.

Hello Grant!

How did your reunion go with the folks I hooked you up with.

Also, you are quick to get upset. I apologize if I rubbed you the wrong way.

Your stories are treasured here. Stay please.
