UNESCO to Support Important Cultural Sites in Somalia

Are you mad or something do you think every city state is a WH site or something. Only the old city of Mogadishu can qualify and that’s pushing it aswell.
Youre a real weirdo, do you know what world heritage sites are? Those are ancient fully constructed towns. What makes you think ancient towns arent heritage sites?

Mogadishu is literally one of the top continuously inhabited cities in the world, and it still is a capital with most ancient structures still intact. Including all of the Old City, the Lighthouse, Al Manara tower, and Fakr ad-din Mosque.

Ok I’ll admit I’m trolling you a bit. Anyways why do you think Somalia didn’t sign the world heritage convention in 1972. Apparently there are up to a dozen sites that could be world heritage sites in Somalia.

I have no idea tbh. There probably could be much more once we get proper archaeological research started again inshaAllah. In Galbeed too around Harar and along the entire coast.

There's ancient Christian burial graves/looted orthodox churches in Somaliland and Sabaen ruins as well. There was one sabaen burial ground with south semitic text in southern Hargeisa ciidagalle zone however the garxajis destroyed the site to build more houses.

There's this cave in sanaag that has sabaen inscriptions on it.

Should become a heritage site as well along with post Islam Dir stuff after we invaded the inlands from the barbaric Christians/pagans.

The whole old city of Mogadishu, Merca and Barawe could be UNESCO heritage if it wasn't destroyed.
Xamarweyne still has some old mosques.
The candidates could be;
Laas Geel rock art.
Jamia Mosque Xamarweyne-Mogadishu
Arbaca Rukun Mosque Mogadishu.
Fakr ad din mosque Mogadishu
Abdi aziz mosque mogadishu
Merca old city
Barawe old city
Qiblatayn Mosque ruins Saylac
Berbera old city.
All these things are intact or partially intact
Some old tombs and burials of in northern somalia could also qualify.
Many sites in somalia are still to be explored, there is evidence of sabean writing and a axumite Christian burials in somaliland.
I think they would also put some italian colonial architecture and ottoman stuff.
Taleex and majerteen sultanate forts are too recent to qualify , maybe taleex fort has more chance but it was built just a 100 years ago and looks like a medieval building

There are many not so impressive cultural sites in africa such as mud buildings in Togo and some ancient ashanti palaces in Ghana. Some cultural cities aren't eve building, there's is unesco heritage sacred groove in nigeria which is considered a cultural site, but it's jus a sacred forest.
Somalia has much more than that

i was specically adressing the dervish movement not the various architecture across somalia north or south.
you don't see american getting worked op over the fact that the statue of liberty was made by the french or arab becoming emotional that somalis fed them in the middle ages.
