I knew three converts from my local mosque. They had been in prison before. One dude had a gun charge and was married to a Yemeni woman, convert no.2 was in prison for a drug charges but he ended up marrying another convert like himself. The third convert went to the pen for fraud charges, and married a Pakistani woman.

I asked them if they had to pay for the meher or the nikah. All three of them said no.

I know bro it sounds like a made up story. I was really active in this masjid so these dudes were close enough to open up to me.
