Its because the NHS is pretty much exclusively government funded, they would be bankrupt by now, paying doctors that kinda money.
I know a lot of UK doctors go over to the USA to work after graduating in the UK, very clever actually as their debt from studying in the UK is less than the debt gained from studying in the USA but they then move over there and benefit from the much higher wages.
