And if they are, they are emotionally absent, or are additional burdens to the household. When did I ever say it's the Somali mother's fault? I'm explaining what's going on with the community including the mothers. I've addressed the deadbeat fathers but I'm also addressing other problems I know that exist in our community. By the way, the older generation mothers don't work, they leech off from the welfare system.
There are Somali mothers that don't allow their fathers to see their kids so how can he discipline them? I've seen many cases. Plus, no one can really blame these Somali parents. They were escaping from the civil war and came as refugees. They lost all their wealth, property and privilege from back home. You don't know what they've been through. It's hard to fit in a nation you hardly grew up in.
The new generation of Somali parents are much more better. They fit in the society, they're educated and hard working. Look at the first-generation Asians and first-generation Africans. They were far worse than Somalis but their descendants adapted to their host country and improved their income.
