The truth of Homicide rates of the world vs. perceived images of countries

So, I was looking at Homicide rates of the world and it turns out I live in a more dangerous country than Somalia. The rates are by per 100,000 people. This means I would be more likely to be murdered in the USA than Somalia.

the most odd ones are the top ten countries with the highest homicide rate because most of them are tourists destination.

I mean look at Jamaica it got 47.01 as a homicide rate with only about 3 million people and this is what happens when you google the country

nothing to be scared of right but here’s Somalia

I swear the media is blatantly picking on us, got people thinking we’re the most dangerous country.

misleading somalia has no stats and ours aren't marked down, in reality were easily top 1, 82 for elsalvador is like a weekend in Mogadishu let alone the whole year, but like I said aint nobody tallying the bodies in somalia like these more sophisticated countries like Jamaica and elsalvador

The difference between us and those countries is they have real functioning governments that controls their borders.

On the other hand, we have no police, no military, no cohesive government that can provide even the basic services. Plus, Al Shabab run riot on this chaotic country. Explosions occur on weekly basis.

Although Mogadishu is one city I get what your saying, however, how come they don’t write no data. What is their intention couldn’t they inflate our numbers just like the how the media write negative articles or just write no data at all. Where are they getting these numbers?

You can’t compare America to Somalia. America’s population is 330 million while Somalia’s is 14 million. Also as @Karim mentioned, Somalia can’t even provide basic services and Al shabab terrorists run havoc in the country.

I’m sorry but I feel safer in the US then I do in Somalia. Just avoid Ghetto hoods, stay at the right time and place and your good.

You know it should be the opposite with fractions if you have a lower dominator then increasing the numerator would increase the rate faster than one with a higher denominator. It would be harder to increase the rate of homicide with a population with 330 million to a rate of 5 then Somalia with 15 million.

But then again this got me thinking why would they have data on Somalia? What is their intention they could inflate our numbers if they wanted to or they could say no data. Same with 68 iq data they don’t have any data so why do they have a number? A lot of people sometimes add data on Somalia but are they all lying how are they coming up with these numbers. How are they coming up with murder rates, rates of diseases, and other things with Somalia. And how do we know where we fall in the world with homicide rates, diseases, or other things when they don’t have data?

They probably go off 50 year old numbers when we did record, they do the same with our currency if you check google 1 dollar is like 500 shillings truth is one dollar in reality is like 5 barrels of shillings, they either say no data or go off old numbers from the 60s

That’s interesting. In my opinion I would rather they say no data at all or specifically tell us when they got the data and how they acquired the data. Since, a lot of things changed by then and it’s important to have more accurate data for things like disease, poverty, security, population growth, and changes in the environment.
