Why do ancient cities always sink into the ground?

How the hell did the ancient palaces sink into the ground? i was watching a documentary about some ancient palaces like the one in persopalis that the retard in office threatened to target, and i'm still beyond belief. The fact that what seems to be a desert to us, could have lying beneath it treasures of ancient kings and civilisations. Perhaps the punishment of allah reached them and their palaces sank into the ground like Qarun from the quran.

I just love archeology and learning about the origins and contributions of humanity. I will be supporting this department in the future and i hope you guys do too.

Do you think we need an archeological department back home?

I've studied it.

- ground level gradually rises
- constantly imported food and building materials but not prioritising rubbish and such caused a build up of debris
- abandoned cities crumble and get 'drowned' in dirt/sediment.
- it was more efficient to build up rather than dig down.
- precipitation erodes buildings.
- floods, earthquakes, swamps, etc.
-houses/buildings in the past weren't built to last that long and the materials used were 'soft'.

Yes I have. Did you want to ask me something specific?
How did the Bronze Age collapse happen? How can practically every civilization except ancient Egypt simultaneously collapse due to “sea people”, who and where were they even from?

There's no clear answer to that but I don have my own theories. It's a very interesting question but I think it deserves it's own thread.
