Somali mothers kill dreams

I wanted to be a rapper when I was little :jcoleno:but when I practiced alone my mother would scream “Quranka saas ma uu xafdidid” now I sit and watch videos like this in anger...what if

I said I wanted to be a game developer after playing on the PlayStation for hours once then my mom beat the absolute shit out of me even though it's a legit career that pays, what did I even do wrong?:mjcry:

You would be 100x more likely to be unemployed on welfare than make it big in the music industry, your mother made the right decision.

Most Somali parents can’t fathom a good career Not either being a doctor, engineer or Lawyer.

That's legit sad some careers required years of practice before you can get any good at it.

I remember a somali mother saying no to her son going to football academy on the weekends when he was young. At of nowhere when he was 16 she said he should become a pro footballer they get paid loads. " If he goes to the academy now he could still make it" < Needless to say he was furious .

Not all somali mothers are like this though next gen of parents will hopefully be more open-minded on careers. I remember trying to convince my mom to let me a middle school exchange in korea. It took 1 month for her to say yes to it

Game development scene is toxic tbh.
Horrible hours and little recognition.

I wanted to be a footballer. Tuition ruined my life. I didn’t even need tuition but my mum insisted. She said if you don’t go tuition you can go somalia. :yloezpe:
