Somalis In Diaspora What's Your Passion

I want to ask Somalis in the diaspora, what is your true passion. I mean by true passion u do it in your spare-time and have so much love for it that u don't need to be told it's 'work'? I never seen Somalis talk about stuff like this because it's definitely spoken about in 'therapy' sessions I go to so I can 'discover' myself. I was in 'position' before therapy, where I had no real passion for anything, just went to work, watched movies in my spare time, and just let life tick away.

I said enough is enough, I am not going to live like this anymore and decided to explore spirituality because this is important to define what is meaning in my life and purpose. Therapy made me understand I need to divide my life into things I 'need to do' in order to survive and 'things I love to do'.

So Here is my story(yes you have to stand before group and share your story).

I work in IT and in government culture, it's not my real passion but I do it so I can make money. I target jobs that are highly lucrative not because I want money but so I am free from 'financial' matters. So I potentially love anything job wise as long as 'dollar is good'.

If the dollar is good it drives me to succeed because I want to reach my goal of doing something which I consider my true passion which is volunteering. I want to help my people in PL, I want to leave a positive legacy for them so they can enjoy life. I don't like assisting them in charity but in solution focused ideas where there is real brain drain.

As for spirituality, I study a-lot various belief system but I use the 'natural concepts' of darwinism to live my life in the real world, as for the spiritual world I am not sure and I don't think I will ever know and came to peace with the fact something you will never know which is very hard to swallow for me because 'knowing' is paramount to me, because I love knowledge it helps guide me to be useful and productive and not waste my life in ignorance.

Now what's your story Somaliyay. I want to do this exercise just to see what the hell do u live for?

I see a-lot of Somali passion is 'image based' based on the forum threads, they really care about how people 'appear' like skin color, hair, nose. What do u term this? becauses I don't connect with it whatsoever, it's huge bulk of our diaspora too who are like inspectors of nose size lol while someone is STEVE JOB in America. That's why I don't connect with somali diaspora and don't associate with them so I am not infected with their mind-set. U will find there are Somalis who live in cities where they want to be away from Somalis and the bad culture and not be seen to be 'like one of them'. Its not self hate it just we feel embarassed when we see our peers and see u.

The liklihood 8 billion ppl are going to find u attractive somaliyay is insane, dont follow that model, impressing ppl, ppl like what they like, its all different, ur chasing shit that is never gonna happen.

I respect models in terms of beauty cause they can prove it MONEY, but ur likes of noses and skin color is unproven in thee world, its your desires and not the world, u will stay broke wallahi. The only true beauty industry is modelling, the rest is MYTHS AND YOUR LIKES AND SIMILAR TO RELIGION UNPROVEN

Oh yeah my hobby is travel and being free. I genuinely like that but I like to rravel not for leisure but to explore how culture change is crucial to a society. I didnt grow up around somalis, i separated, and my mind got shaped differently over a generation to the point we are like two worlds apart. I want to see how it can be done across the whole society cultural change so they can do this to africans and arabs

The only thing that changed between me and somali in diaspora is CILM nothing else, we are the same in every other matter and its CRITICAL for somalis also. Somalis in diaspora are not westerners like me, your still around somalis, u need to separate bro from them and come back later and see the difference

The reason is we live in a sophisticated society where we lose track of what we are doing anymore lol and u know that feeling it's called 'emptiness' it's terrible feeling wallahi and had it for years. U will feel like u just another number, another worker, another this and that, u see all around u people doing the same, i stepped away and did my soul searching which is life long process, u don't get the answer str8 away but u know when to start looking so u don't get lost in the RACE.

If we were in Somalia trust me just water, toilet is enuff to bring joy, I worry for them if they advance and dont have the right systems in place to deal with these problems that develop. Its ok now their not sophisticated mentally, but once they are loads of spiritual and mental issues follow so they need an islam that keeps up and by removing the backward wahabi/salafi, we can select modern type islam and replace these shitty as sheikhs intended for ppl who never leave beyond basic lifestyle cause thats when they succeed to ensure ignorance continues.

I've been playing the piano since I was 6 I will never grow out of it :D There is always something new I can learn to play or someone new I can play for I doubt I'll run out of options. You don't have to keep the same hobbies forever we grow and we find new interests ,some you may keep others you'll leave behind. It's just like real life you meet people some stay some go, doesn't matter too much the experiences you have stay with you forever though. That's the most important thing in my eyes

I know what you mean.

"Quiet desperation" like the pink flyod song.

Watch this video and channel, I highly recommend it.

Also you seem like you have a racing mind.
Devote yourself to meditation and the bliss
of the present moment.

Yeah medidation I do a-lot when my mind is on over-drive and I know it's heading towards 'collapse'. I really like natural based themes to my meditation like 'rain falling' or 'deep mountain winds' I turn it on thru youtube and the native american flutes, wallahi I close my eyes and just say 'TAKE ME'. U can sit there in your imagination and put yourself where-ever u want in world or outside of it. I have real connection to nature due to my strong belief in darwinism. It tells me what is natural and what is MAN MADE

Oh the one thing I never grew out of in terms of hobbies is WWE. I actually still watch it not full shows anymore but just to find out where my favorite wrestlers are doing cuz a-lot now do those pod-casts. It was joyful part of my early years. But I don't watch it anymore untill I hear one of my favorite wrestlers is back so I keep up with the news on it

I sometimes wonder if Somalia wasn't a mess and it was like first world nation and my people were not dying, what would my passion be? it's so hard to think about what u would've become, cuz the urgency of Somalia has shifted my priorities to save my people(like darwin teaches about extinction) by doing nothing and not adapting. I think my passion would've been what the state needs at the time like say 'more inventions' I would be most likely focusing on becoming a mathamatician so their economy doesnt die and they create new stuff as time goes on

I also noticed my passions have a-lot to do with Somalia. Like when I read history, I watch the dark ages europe and look at it and study the symptoms and match it against somalia, it's 99% identical policies happening and it gets u shook how locals dont see cayaarta lagu wada

The only 'real' meditation or the one with the most benefits its called mindfull breathing.

You focus on your breath and once you realise that you no longer present or that you're inside your head again you begin to focus on your breath once more.

The task here is not to have a empty mind
but the repetition of going back to your breath.

It teaches you to become aware of your
obsessive tendencies or compulsion and simply letting go. Simply being fine with it being there.

Try it now.

Sit down and breathe through your nose and you will notice that you cant keep it up.

Your mind will start drifting.

And that's ok. It can be frustrating at first but the more time you come back to your breath the more you become present.

Sounds good, it tests you at the same time, focus on ur breath and hold it and continue, the second the mind races, u fail i agree with in maskaxda la nidaamiyo u need to learn how TO CONTROL IT not LET IT CONTROL U. Yaab and then u can see it's all your fault your allowing shit to get to u cuz u cant even focus on ur breath. Good idea wallahi, cause alot of problems are about u handle it wallahi, if ur mind is chaotically racing and u encounter a problem, u will obviously get chaotic results(yelling, fights, backstabbing, et)

@Luciddreamer Is the brain just naturally chaotic and needs to be 'structured' because I have heaps of thoughts and it's always pointless untill I structure it properly, cuz if u hear it automatically it's all jibberish. Brain seems to need some sort of structure or order and then 'techniques' or else u could be living life just doing same thing over n over and getting chaotic outcomees.

I believe(not proven) hence belief like religion. The world was chaos like our minds are and we have to develop structures, rules, techniques to make it USEFUL. I think there is creator but nothing we understand, if i left my mind how it is and just wrote down everything that came to mind without structuring it or some sort of nidaam(taught at school), it will be jibberish and chaos. I think the universe was similar. Now I just need the somali academia to begin finding ways to test the idea, thats how knowledge economies happen sxb u present the idea they rank it and then find ways to test it and if they cant they leave it as THEORY OR RESEARCH PAPER THAT ONE DAY SOMEONE WILL FIND A TEST. HENCE LIBRARIES NOW ITS ONLINE LIBRARIES.

I love reading history, not Somali history only but like actual history. It’s important to learn from the past. There’s no point making the same mistakes twice. It’s stupid.
