I agree with almost all points but not sending boys to Buaale. Secure Gedo and build the wall.

If I was Gedo I would re-do that Baardheere Dam Project and ask the FEDS that only GEDO river is designated the electricity providing plant of the nation. But I am sure 'hiraan' and 'jubba rivers' will be putting their tenders in but the region with the most stability, governance, law and order is obviously going to be selected.

Wallahi just that alone will be enough of an industry for your region and taxation revenues. U should seek what industries GEDO can serve region wise and nation wise and make it an industry only reer gedo own and not shared with other clans. Electricity is the most in-demand service nation wide, it will control the economy and u got the RIVER for it to happen.

If I was reer gedo, I would look at world wide 'river' communities in the world and see what sort of industries are possible based on a 'geography' like yourself and what sort of role you can play in the nation state. But siyad got one thing right about baardheere 'electricity dam' and it needs to be revived

If I lived in gedo I would also seek secondary industry 'tourism'. Create national parks and bring back those exotic animals, organize 'safari' tours, hotels, advertise in western nations and arab nations, bring in clientele to experience Somalia wild life like kenya does, it's brilliant and brings in 'hard dollar' into Gedo community were it will circulate. So you can have secondary industry while majority of your boys work on the 'electricity dam' as engineers and your lower class as 'labourers'.

Gedo would fair well if it had business activity in terms of consumer and market, main-stay industries like electricity plant as it's GDP driver, secondary industries like tourism taking advantage of it's large lush lands like Kenya does. But what would send gedo to another level is more business activities, people would prefer living in 1st world Somalia some-where near the river and greenery only if there is good economy and lifestyle but if they don't develop the economy, their location isn't going to help them, people will go where there is work, infrastructure, good living standards and job opportunities.

So it needs to get to work but their divided as hell marehan between new comers and old residents, they need to cut a deal for the greater good of marehan and stick to it

this is the first time gedo is united in 30 years, all mayors and governors have come to an agreement of developing Gedo.

the key is infrastructure and defeating al shabaab. at the moment al shabaab are not in any major gedo city but they are found in the bush. linked all Gedo cities together with the road project and that alone will increase the GDP of the area and let trade flow.
