Would a benevolent dictator ever work out in Somalia?

I agree with @Muji it should be a woman since women have no qabil. And it should be someone from the diaspora. The female dictator should rule with an iron fist and karbash all the filthy men who hold important positions. I also think it should be a non-muslim

hunny I was nodding until the last line

InAdeer, most Isaaqs agree with me. Walal that ship sailed along time ago in regards to the "Somaliweyne" , the "shanta somaliyeed" that people refer to are not governed by Xamar nor would it ever will be. Hopefully, Djibouti will continue.

Nope, it didn't. Just go to southern Somalia most people strongly believe in Somaliweyn and most people would die for it.

In that case they would have to be a Darood. Can't see an Isaaq or Hawiye dictatorship working either

I can see why Isaaqs would have a hard time gaining power since their seen as secessionist but not Hawiyes. Hawiyes are one of the few clans who remain loyal to the Somali cause and haven't started their own separate government and flag.

Yes it could work. If Siad Barre never shit the bed he could’ve achieved a lot. Would’ve been best country in Africa in terms of quality of life.

Of course he would’ve butchered a ton of innocent people for saying the wrong thing. So there’s that too.

Why not? Democracy doesn't work in qabil infested poor societies. Maybe after three generations of peace and stability democracy can be introduced. But realistically speaking Somalia today couldn't function under a democratic rule.

Majority of the ciise/samaroon are also loyal to Somalia. To be honest all that Somalia needs is someone who's educated and with a strong sense of patriotism.

it won’t work because most somalis won’t be able to look beyond the dictators clan to see his or her benevolence.

But they don’t have to see the benevolence. It’s a dictatorship and not a democracy. You missed that part. If someone starts shit they get hit. And in the meantime development continues.

No I mean just the numbers game to be able to gain power. Darood are the most numerous clan.

siyad barre was an old man, by 1991 he was probably in his late 80's. siyad barre never took the likes of caydiid or abdullahi yusuf serious, he viewed them as the next generation he was old enough to be there father.

No, I don't think so. Eventually, the dictator will die or be overthrown. Chaos will follow. We would get another dictator or a civil war.

I was speaking of myself. I am that Female dictator. If I ever saw the chance to take power in Somalia I would take it.

lol nothing would unite Somalis more than fighting against a non-Muslim leader. Maybe you’re onto something.

why would any reasonable human being support a dictatorship?

Actions speak louder than words. As long as the leader rule based on Somalia's best interest and instil law and order to the society and hold anyone despite clan accountable for their actions, people will respect him.

Aden adde is a perfect example, he is one of the few Somali presidents that all Somalis actually respects.

if Somalia had a democratic system, then yes based on numbers and the fact that people most likely would vote for their own clan, then yes Daroods would-be presidents. However, if we are talking about dictatorship, Anyone, as long as you have the manpower and the money, could be the leader.
