Just got back from hargeisa,

1)no roads or streets

2)rocks everywhere, outside the house, the pollution is unbearable

3)broken make shift of what is supposed to be rds

4) no creativity in creating employment, everyone are building hotels which are empty

5)goats everywhere, don't hit em otherwise you'll end up paying 100s if not 1000s,

6)everyone is high on qaat, a country of junkies, zombies

7)gorbajoog are inflating the prices of empty land, being taken for idiots

8)when a car breaks down, they just leave it by the side, no garages, or mechanics

9)in government, works starts at 8 finishes at 12..

10) the highways are decent, but in the so called cities the mayor and he's cronies rob all the taxes so nothing ever gets fixed, no roads developed or street lights, signs, stops, traffic lights... Nothing

11)hilib geel is over rated, caano geel is nasty but nice at same time...

12)THERE IS NOTHING TO DO IN HARGESA, NOTHING TO SEE

Lol boss, funny thing, all the ppl who earning money in construction are Asians, Chinese, Arabs, and xabashis, our ppl have no skills walahi, I drove past so many shops being built, somalis get used to remove the dirt, rocks, and debris with their hands, child labour, kids as young as 8 or 10 being used like in Congo....the situation is sad walahi...

Young kids as young as 6 falling a sleep on the street out of hunger and waking up at the same spot still hungry.

Yet goorbajoog who spent two weeks in the summer shielded, sheltered and move around in a car protected from the realities, these goorbajoog will tell you the country is making moves to be the next Wakanda... Part of the problem is the government who only there for 4 or 8 years, in that time they only there line up their pockets, divide lands among themselves and build large buildings for themselves..

Let's apply the ultimate test.

Ask every politician to forfeit he's European / American /Canadian passport for the somaliland passport.... Non will do... No love for the country..

I haven't been to Somaliland since 05 and it has changed. But, the roads in the city hasn't. are your originally from Somaliland or Somalia ?

Xaargeisa was very disappointing. Skyscrapers and slums next to broken roads with puddles left after each rainfall. It was very overcrowded with widespread begging and a sizeable ooromo population. The air was toxic and the area was very depressing. Very disappointed :susp:

It is a shithole but a shithole that can make you money in terms of land. Purchased plots of lands there back in 2016 now it is 3x return in investment, going to sell some of in the future and buy a house in the UK. Ain't trying to live in Somalia.

All goorbojoogs are buying land, sitting on them and hoping they quadruple in price in few years, that creates empty lands and plots no one building on and makes the city looks ugly...

My friend sat on two plots for 3yrs, bought them for 25k, sold them 7wks ago for 130k, nice bit of profit.

The locals are priced out from buying anything which creates resentment towards us western guys... Can't blame them realy

Hargeisa isn’t as bad as other Somali cities but you are right that it is overrated. The corrupt government needs to invest in infrastructure and roads.
