Yep thats right folks the way Iran is geographically it is shielded completely by moutains and desert. Throw in a massive hostile population and a strong military = Afghanistan x10. This isn't counting all the thousands of insurgents in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon that will cause chaos and disrupt US activity and bases in those countries. If Russia and China give Iran some aid then its good night. A conventional war would be way too costly for little gain and would leave a massive domestic insurgent movement in Iran even if the U.S manages to 'win'.

It's the 21st century, terrain isn't that much of a problem anymore for armies. All they have to do is bomb the hell out of a area, and then drop in all the soldiers just like they did in d day. It isn't hard to transport armies today with planes. If they could transport hundred of thousands of soldiers from america to Europe nearly a hundred years ago. Then it is possible.


Iran has been conquered before by muslims and therefore can be conquered by the strongest military the world has seen today with ease. Let's be honest it is america values or image as the leader of the free world has stopped america from doing anything. If desired america could destroy them with much ease. It will be a one sided battle unfortunately.

In any case of war:

Iran would have to use its missiles to target the closes bases.

Nato (apart from turkey) and The majority of the Arab World will probably join a coalition and america will carry out airstrikes.

The Russians might help Iran after the americans attack.

Iraq may join Iran. Turkey will stay neutral.

Americans won’t conduct a full scale invasion. Look at how they failed in Afghanistan.

The Iranians might continue to build missiles.
Russia will continue helping Iran.

Saudi Arabia will be decimated after American bases and oil fields are targeted. House of Saud flees. Same goes for UAE.

The war will continue, America may attempt an Invasion on Iran.

If so, they may capture Tehran but a long and bloody guerrilla war will continue.

Like Vietnam, the Americans will lose many men. The Persians may have atom bombs, hence, they may target the US Mainland.

The war will take a toll on the US since Russia will help Iran.


Im just joking, war is very unlikely

:cosbyhmm: How did Taliban/Mujahideen monkeys in Afghanistan hold off the Americans and the Soviets? Iran is a bigger Afghanistan but with a proper army too. The Muslims finished off a corrupt and weak Sassanid Empire that was stronger than them on paper but had little morale and poor leadership.

America will find a way to blow minor dissatisfaction in iran out of proportion. Qasem Soleimani also had an assassination attempted on him last year. So the elements are ready for USA to utilize.

Not after this assassination galvanized the country for a while. The regime is going to capitalize off this massively at home and abroad. Dissent will be limited for some time now

Technically yes the US can invade pretty much every country in the world and bomb it to fucking death with their massive arsenal. But it'll come at a massive cost.

Israel and Saudi Arabia (GCC countries probably) will get absolutely fucked into an oblivion and the Middle East will turn into an insurgent hellhole once again. Bonus if the houthis over run the Saud's. NATO might be reluctant to whizz in and make everything go boom judging by prior American history and there's no doubt China and Russia will use this opportunity to weaken their rival.

But here's the kicker. As OP stated Iran actually has a capable military that can take on a ful scale conventional war and they have the advantage of having miles of hostile and hard to go across terrain. They've seen their neighbour get (Iraq) invaded by America and have clearly learnt from it. If it ever does happen it's going to be messy, brutal and would never be worth it.

Keep in mind there's going to be another migration crisis and huge amount of the world's oil consumption will have to decrease fucking over not only the MENA region but the whole damn world economically.
