Well you would have heard the Labour Party which moved to the far left suffered a large loss tonight. People are saying it’s because they refused to back brexit and that his stance on socialism was toxic to the U.K. voter.

I wonder if this result has some lessons for the dems in the US. As someone who is left leaning I have to admit England and America are centre right countries. They just do not buy into socialism and do not like it.

Should Bernie take the ticket for the dems? Last night I would have said yes, now I believe it’s a hard no!

Trump will get his majority in 2020 and if anyone is going to stop him it’s not going to be Bernie. I’m told by Americans that Bernie is popular in America, well that’s because the media and the corporate interests have not started with him. If he ever gets the ticket he will be turned into the bogeyman over night, and you will see those ratings plummet.

The safest ticket for me would be Joe Biden. Even though I believe he would not be able to beat Trump.

I though the UK had common sense then Brexit happen then I thought they were idiots but now if tories truly win, I'm convinced the country is insane. Yep

Conditions in America are not the same as the UK. The conservative party fed on Brexit to rile up poor working class who blame immigrants for everything.

America is only 60% white plus he's already losing in the suburbs of red states

Trump is under impeachment troubles right now, but since you need the House (Dem majority) and the Senate to make it stick, and the senate is Republican run, it doesn’t seem like it’s going anywhere.

Furthermore, Americans prefer the matter to be settled by the election vs the impeachment proceedings, even though most Americans overwhelmingly believe Trump to have acted wrongly.

It’s too early to tell what democratic candidate he’ll be up against, bc there’s a huge contestant pool, but the top 4 are: Joe Biden (White, Old, Center Dem, Obama’s Old VP, Obamacare proponent), Elizabeth Warren (White, Old, Consumer Protection, Medicare 4 All, Financial Sector’s Worst Nightmare, Massachusetts Senator), Bernie Sanders (Old, White, Jew, Medicare 4 all, Free College, Vermont Senator), Pete Butigieg (White, Young, Gay, Afghanistan Vet, Medicare 4 all Who Want It, South Bend, Indiana Mayor).

The Dems are too far left for America. Biden’s center and the best chance with his name recognition, but he’s too feeble to take on Trump.

Buttigieg, although a lot more palatable in his views than Sanders and Warren are to the general population, is gay.

The number 1 reason labour have been losing is Jeremy Corbyn, 2nd is spending too much and 3rd is brexit.

All of the media apart from the guardian painted Corbyn as some crazy fringed Marxist who will bankrupt the country and sell your house.

They will do the same to Bernie once it becomes realistic that he might come into power. Bernie will be depicted as a socialist who wants to tax you so he can fund the lifestyles of lazy people and bring in more immigrants.

For heaven sake learn from the U.K. and do not support him! If the U.K. is not ready for socialism than America certainly isn’t!

It sells really well to put America first and to cut tax in America. I don’t know what sells better than those ideas. It’s the same in the U.K. I’m glad you can see through the Bernie honeymoon phase.

yup he'd have to finish off extremely strong on the economy and against china and if Dems chose a uninspiring center candidate like Biden or buttegig then yeah he'll probably win, don't see him beating Bernie or yang though

The polls go up and down, they don’t mean jack until election week.

The media haven’t started with Bernie yet. Please read what I wrote in full. If Bernie gets the chair for the dems, the media will start. You already have bill gates mildly commenting on Elizabeth Warrens plans and she isn’t even a credible nominee. Wait till they think Bernie has a credible chance of winning.

The sad truth is people don’t want to pay more tax, even 2% is too much for them. How will Bernie justify spending on free tuition and universal healthcare without telling America they will have to pay more? The media will turn him into the big Stalin monster.

I will save this thread to tell you I told you so if Bernie does win the nomination.

Americans aren't like you brits, we don't give a damn what no "media" say why do you think trump got elected in the first place? the guy clowns them daily and still got elected, Media won't be a deciding factor at all

Tukraq I really don’t like having discussions with you.

Brexit was not popular with the media and it still go through because it offered the same message as Trump. Keep foreigners out and put brits/America first.

There are strong parallels between what is happening in the UK and the US. People are scared of socialism in America. If you had a job with bills to pay you would understand.
