Minneapolis has many buiildings similar to this. I think they made an effort to preserve what they could as a landmark heritage. Something for the future generation to look back and value.
If I come across such buildings, will snap some pics and post it in the future inshallah. It is sub zero temparture now so not anytime soon.
Many buildings of the University of MN are like this. Their main arts/Theatre building where they hold Orchestra and events looks like this below.
