Lol some people love winter tho, not me but there are some people that enjoy the season. Minneapolis is an upcoming city, and the summers here are some of the best.
My winter boots came in last Friday from amazon . I am set for the season.
It is not over population that drives the rent in those states but the wealthy and tech companies throwing money at their elite workers who then pay whatever asked of them for housing. The property owners raise the rent to force middle income earners to move so they can charge higher rent for their units. Some local counties are reinvesting in the city which then leads to rental properties being out of reach for the people who used to live there. New people come in to displace the old neighborhood. It is called gentrification. Some school Teachers and other professionals sleep in their cars cause they can't afford rent. Almost every state with good economy is feeling the housing crisis because landlords are raising rents claiming market demand drives the prize. New York also is home to many international organizations and the UN. Wealthy foreign nationals including middle easterners bought homes there and pay high premium for residency.
I think the wealthy in these two states primarily drive rental and property prices. Seattle is next for being pricey.

I use to visit MN as a kid when there weren't that many geeljires yet, never in the winter tho but the summers were absolutely incredible. Insha'allah I should make an appearance one of these days
The good thing about winter is less young adults loitering and causing trouble outside in the neighborhoods. Many Minnesotans, specially the white folks look forward to the winter so the interlopers from Chicago go back to Chicago again.
