I think actually you’re being intellectually dishonest. These rebels had the backing of oil rich gulf nations, Israel, Western Europe and America yet were ousted and outmaneuvered by Syria/SAA, Iran, Russia, Hezbollah and lesser extent China (Indirectly). This uprising was never domestic but rather international infiltration of Syria; majority of the fighters weren’t even Syrian, they were paid unemployed young Arab men throughout the Arab world.

Syria is the first time in a long time that the unholy Western coalition, GCC and Israel faced military defeat. Libya was a major wakeup call for the World, and the same mistakes that happened in Libya hopefully will never be repeated. The Syrian government win is and was a major geopolitical change in the world which many don't realize. This has embolden numerous countries worldwide and the "impenetrable" armory of transatlantic partnership has been penetrated and exposed.

Idlib is the last region that remains, slowly the SAA will starve the militias, whilst rejuvenating the SAA for a final assault to oust criminals from Syria.
Conspiracy thinking.

First time in what universe? American foreign policy has had a ton of epic fails (and successes), many of which are declassified and can be read about in detail with whole books the size of your head written about them. As yet, there’s still no mistaking their superior position. If the US/ The Western coalition should fall subservient to Russia/China, there will be no “many don’t realize”.

Assad won and now his sect/ethnic group has the only regions that were least impacted by the war.
He saved them from genocide and they will now fight for him even harder in the next war. Their two cities:

Latakia
Tartus

It was domestic, it became International when Assad took up arms against his people. The rebels were poorly untrained morons who formed militias after they got bombed to death. You're not going to win a war against the Russian Army, and trained Iranian/Hezbollah Militias who have fought proxy wars before.

It doesn't matter if you have ''money'' if you have no experience in the world of warfare, you won't win simply as. Look at Saudi/UAE armies they can't even beat the Houtis despite having the best military equipment namely from the USA and UK. Libya was a different case because it was NATO doing all the work for them. The Libyan Army pretty much became defacto after the revolution started and Ghaddafi had no backing from anyone in the world.

You might've misunderstood my post. It doesn't matter who was supporting the rebels, if Russia and Iran didn't come to his defense he would've been toppled, that's a fact and not intellecutally dishonest in anyway.

Now in the case of most uprisings or rebellions that take place, foreign interference is usually the case and this was no different. Assad was dealing with the onslaught known as the Arab spring revolutions that were mainly sponsored by the west. Their test dummy was Iraq and they became confident after Libya, for Russia this was a geopolitical battle to protect Iran who would've been next if Syria fell.

I generally think he wouldn't have lost or been toppled, there would have been a stalemate between him and the rebels and some sort of peace agreement would have had to be reached. The Syrian Army was still with Assad before and after the revolts/civil war, if the Syrian National army started to rebel against him then he would have been toppled. This was the important point I must stress, if your generals and army start to rebel against you then you've pretty much lost your grip on power.

Don't Forget that Bashar Came by accident!
If it was Bassel controlling Syria, this War would have not happened/Had a different turn
Bassel was more like his father and was groomed by his father to be the next President of Syria
But It did not happen!

Mad respect to Bashar Assad for his resilience, he's won the Syrian war. However it's intellectually dishonest to sidestep the caveat of without the full military backing from Russia and Iran he would've been toppled, that's not really up for debate.

If I was one of the Generals of The Great Siad in the 80s and we had the full backing of Russia our government would still be standing today as well since we would be able to unleash endless payloads of artillery and missiles against the rebel scum.
Sxb Said was not great diplomatically just like Qadaffi. Bashar Al Assad was and that is what changed the outcome. Shifting sides towards USA from Russia is what destroyed Somalia.

The khawarij ISIS terrorists who were mainly foreigners ruined the chance for the free syrian army to get rid of this guy. In the beginning, it was Assad vs the Syrian people. Now the country is in ruins with Syrians suffering. This kelb has resettled Lebanese shias in the capital and surrounding areas.
