The US outmaneuvered by the tripartite coalition of Russia, Turkey, and Iran in Syria

The Turkish invasion of Syria is the result of a not so secret agreement between Turkey, Russia and Iran to clear the US out of Syria and to prevent them from carving out a sphere of influence as they sought to do in NE Syria by giving military and financial support to the Kurds.

The plan was a masterstroke. Turkey invades Kurdish held Northeast region and the US subsequently abandon their Kurdish pawns. Kurds seek protection from Assad giving an opening for his forces and Russia to fill the void left by the US, Syrian forces take control of towns and villages once out of his reach. Assad is now consolidating power throughout the whole country. :nvjpqts:

It seems Erdogan's Turkey is slowly normalizing relations with Assad, the Emir is too prideful to admit that he was on the wrong side of history in regards to his support of the Arab spring dissident that sought the toppling of his once close friend, Russia is working hard to mend their relationship.

Turkey is no fan of Russia, they just made the the mistake of shooting down a Russian jet. The ensuing rapprochement has forced them to shift their Syria policy considerably to align with Russia.
