Reer Ottawa - Do you know any Somalis left Ottawa and moved to Gatineau?

Ottawa, especially the south/south-east, is fast becoming gentrified. The city will be unaffordable like Vancouver and Toronto within the next decade. :farole:

The low-income houses on Baycrest (Herongate) were demolished last year. The same company that owned those houses are building three luxury apartments close by and plan to build a 40-story hire-rise.

There are also plans to building a nine-story apartment building at Elmvale Acres.

I personally know two families who've left Ottawa and moved to Gatineau.

Rent and property in western Quebec cheap compared to Ottawa. Might take advantage and buy property while the iron's hot. :gaasdrink:

Gatineau may be part of Quebec, but thousands of people from there cross the river to work in Ottawa.
Bill 21 is the law that bans Quebec teachers, police officers, prison guards, prosecutors/crown attorneys from wearing religious symbols. Still, that wouldn't stop me from living in Quebec. Let those cadaan pure laine hate all they want.

Foreign nationals, mainly from China, have been buying up property in Toronto and Vancouver making both cities unaffordable for the middle class Canadians. Condos and luxury apartment buildings are popping up everywhere.

East Ottawa is still majority French speaking and Southern Ottawa 50/50 split.
