Democracy is haraam it goes against the rulings of the shariah it is classed a major shirk to follow the law of mankind over the law of Allah. Okay so how will this affect somalia ? Along with economic growth & democracy = basically liberalism do what you want lifestyle will become the norm. What you guys are shocked about in the west will be the norm in Somalia in about 30 years we will have feminism movements and women arguing to partake in government equal pay jobs etc then we will have gays and lesbians all forms of degenerate lifestyles will be the norm in our nation because the leaders have accepted to rule by the law of democracy/ liberalism do what you want lifestyle dont say I didn’t warn you

it neither goes against shariah nor is shirk, where do you guys come up with these things, khulufa arrashidin were merit based and elected through shura council, democracy just increases the number of people that has a vote from small number to everyone which isn't adding anything new sharia wise, its monarchies like the Umayyad and say Saudi Arabia right now doing the bidia by having non merit based lineage based leadership with out elections

The Shariah contains of every law that we as Muslims derive from the Quran and the Sunna of the prophet SCW. Shariah is not a finished constitution, but the BASIS of every constitution. By that I mean every Muslim country is free to make it's own constitution, but not a single law of this constitution should be in contradiction to the Shariah. For exampe, if Somalia decides to pass a law where interest is permissible to increase the economy, this law would be against the Shariah.

However, western democracy with liberal laws is haram as yiu correctly stated out, since many of the liberal laws are against Islam. So democracy in it's western version is haram.
By the way the provisional constitution of Somalia and the constitution of Somaliland have both written in their constitution, that any law that is against the Shariah, shall be dismissed.
