Inferiority complex ? What you earn now is what we earned as junior. Please waryaa. Anyways It's enough. I got what I wanted. :icon lol:

:siilaanyolaugh: He is just doing anything for a platinum. He's competitive for no reason.

But let's put things in perspective. People and their worth comes from their intrinsic value not their market value. Which can fluctuate. You better hope to have residual income because if disease or injury strikes and you deplete your funds it could mean ruin.

I have met various individuals with woeful tales of millionaires gone bust and men with prestigious positions stricken with paranoid delusions and rendered unemployable.

Count your blessings @Abdalla and encourage your fellow Somalis which are minorities in the west and your fellow compatriots. Instead of low blows. I knew a guy who went from student-level penury to landing his own show. Fortunes change. And those that lose can gain and vice versa. :icon e smile:

I'm in need of the good Allah has sent down on me. If I lose all it's due to my wrong doings, and i know all the good stuff come from my Lord.

I'm well aware of my limitations.

Agreed. Also, no achievement is entirely singular. It is due mostly to your efforts but also the accumulation of assistance from teachers/professors, friends/aquiantances, family and colleagues compounded over time.

Don't chase money sxb, chase a career. I was never going to entertain a contract role because of it's instability but the Zurich role did interest me. When i heard it was not client facing i turned it down. I won't sit in a backend office surrounded by servers in a German town no matter how much they will pay me. There is more money to be made in client facing and especially Account Management which i am aiming for. It is the only role that gives you quartely bonuses.

This nigga posting random emails from vacancy websites he subscribed to:mjlol:

The email I attached was a follow up from a call I had with the recruiter, after he did all the background check and the nonsense interview.

120k for a senior position is quite low in our field.

I don't even answer phone calls from numbers i don't recognise unless they leave a voicemail, let alone subscribe to anything that will spam my email account. Those were recruiters who came across my LinkedIn.

120K Swiss Franc is 95K Sterling which is well above expected for a senior in the UK. Only Directors and Account Managers can expect more than that here. I don't know what inflated ridicolous amounts you Europeans are use to seeing, but i suspect higher taxes there.

I didn't say it's not much, Just said it's not much in our field, specially for a contractor. I've previously mentioned that the senior manager I share an office with gets 200k. They're in the 800-1000 per day range

I only deal with recruiters that I've worked with. The ones that bombard you on LinkedIn are there to boost their database. I never send them my cv.

200k? Do you work for a brokerage? That should be illegal. :icon lol::icon lol::icon lol:

Don't downplay LinkedIn, my current role was due to a headhunter from LinkedIn. Recruiters are all the same but sometimes you get lucky.

This can be only said by someone who didn't enter cooperate life. My biggest annoyances were money issues. When I was a low ranking associate, I use to do way more work and carried more responsibilities than what I initially thought or agreed upon. I told the supervisor this is not what I bargained for. I showed them the job description of their vacancy and the things I was doing and compared the two.

Ofcourse if you're just starting, learn the skills and upgrade your cv. But after two years, know your worth.

Nah lol, but he has a PhD and 20+ experience

He was interim manager. Another interim manager that sat across him got 170k walahi. Their invoices use to get into my email, and i use to forward it to finance department. I'm not sure if they knew that I knew their salary.

I am a corporate.

Yes jumping job to job is great for higher salary expectations, i did that for half a decade, but you will reach a dead end as roles will require 5+ years hard experience. After a point there is a need for long term planning.

You may reach 40, jumped between 10 jobs, became a jack of all trades, master of none. Some industries are very small and there is only so much jumping you can do.

A career will make you a proven subject matter expert in your field, indispensable and immune to redundancies and you may one day be able to build a portfolio of your own clients so you can freelance independently.

I know a M&A advisor who pockets millions a year just by sitting at home and making a few calls a week to help his clients manage their investments. Dude is in Miami one day, Singapore the next. He worked his way up from being an associate at a Bank to a Manager to a Partner. Within 15 years he had so much power they offered him triple his wages to stay on. He said he sacrificed his youth, social and family life to build an empire, not to continue working under someone.

I make 70k a year but with bonus it’s closer to 80k. I work at a chill company with great flexibility (i.e I “work” from home twice a week and sometimes three days, and nobody cares or keeps track of when I come to or leave the office). If I stay at this company, it’s likely I will become a director or vice president in a decade as I am part of a special program to develop leadership (directors/vps have the same flexibility but make a lot of $$$). The work is interesting and varied, and I just got a new role that will have me traveling a lot (which is great, they pay for fancy hotels and $150 a day for food and incidentals). My company is recession-proof, has a monopoly on the industry its in, and it’s low stress, and they really believe in developing talent and advancing careers. It’s not bad for a first job, especially since I majored in a soft subject (although I went to a prestige college, which makes finding a job much easier whatever the major). But i’m not going to stay, i’ll probably go to law school in a year or two where the earning potential is much higher (190k first year, with yearly increases) if I manage to get into a top caliber law school (which I will, my grades were good and the LSAT will not be difficult for me). But sometimes I think, is it worth it to leave? I'm not a materialistic person and would prefer to have a chill and flexible work-life balance instead of obsessing over work all the time. I maybe spend 1-2 hours working a day, the rest of the time is spent doing whatever holds my interest that day.
