The biggest mistakes in Somali politics of all time

5. Allowing Wabhism to take control of South Somalia

4. Allowing Ethiopia and Kenya to annex Somali inhabited regions

3. Failure of southern militias to pacify their regions like SND did in Somaliland and SSDF in little Puntland

2. Dictator Siad Barre's genocide against Somaliland's people

1. The 1977 War against Ethiopia... the beginning of the end of Somalia

If it wasnt for these stupid decisions:kodaksmiley:

1. Wasn't a mistake as long as we had a good leader.

We invaded Ethiopia in 1963 and the effect wasn't nearly as bad as the 77 war.

2. You could go further and argue that Siad barre becoming President and destroying our democracy and leading to his genocidal campaigns. There were no benefits from Siad barre's rule.

3. When the foundations of your militia are qabyaalad then you are already doomed from the get-go.

4. Nothing we could do, May Allah curse the Queen and the UK.

5. Where there is war and poverty, Wahabism and intolerance follow.

These are my 7 biggest blunders in order of severity.

1. Somaliland uniting with Somalia in 1960; Somalis would have been more powerful in the Horn as seperate entities.

2. Somalia allying with the Soviet Bloc; this is why the country is awash with guns. With the US as an ally instead, we may still corrupt and poor but they would have invested in education, health and other institutions.

3. Afwayne refusing to step down after the Manifesto; this was what started the Hawiye-Darod war.

4. Cali Mahdi refusing to consult the rebels before declaring a government; this killed the last hope of saving the country from sectarianism and maamul goboleed hotel administrations.

5. Xamar Warlords refusing to Support
C/Qaasim Salaad; this was why Ina Yeey with his scorched earth policies was (s)elected to become President.

6. Sheikh Sharif and Xasan Dahir Aweys refusing to cooperate after Sheikh Sharif was elected; this was the last chance to crush alshabaab. Much like Cali Mahdi and Caydiid.

we never invaded them in 1963, we had a border war and we defeated them, we can always beat the habashi as long as the West doesnt get involved or send them aide with man power and money, we have always defeated them in wars, the islamic adeli and iffat empires, run by somalis/canfaar/harari etc, we always ate them for breakfast

No lol.

We actually invaded and crossed the border preemptively as that bastard Hallie Salassie was about to launch a genocide against the Somalis living there.

Defeating Xabasha is a part of our culture.

You expected something here didn't you?!?!?
5. Allowing Wabhism to take control of South Somalia

Result of the Cold War, unless you wanted our parents generation to fight the Saudis and in extension, NATO.

4. Allowing Ethiopia and Kenya to annex Somali inhabited regions

Neither have, their military might be there, but they'll never dare to annex it straight out. Kenya's losing the ICJ case and Ethiopia needs our ports and oil.

3. Failure of southern militias to pacify their regions like SND did in Somaliland and SSDF in little Puntland

This has nothing to do with politics sxb- more qabiil than anything else.

2. Dictator Siad Barre's genocide against Somaliland's people

You're still gonna end up rejoining Somalia sxb- our economy will get 100 times better and you'll have n choice but to re-join.

1. The 1977 War against Ethiopia... the beginning of the end of Somalia

This has been going on for centuries- even before the Romans existed. I doubt it'll stop any time soon, just get used to it sxb.

4. Allowing Ethiopia and Kenya to annex Somali inhabited regions
no argueing with that
3. Failure of southern militias to pacify their regions like SND did in Somaliland and SSDF in little Puntland
sl and pl had 1 major malitia while southern somali had 3 which splinter off to create there own groups.
2. Dictator Siad Barre's genocide against Somaliland's people
there was no genocide to the ''somaliland people'', the isaaqs who supported snm got targeted but the dir and dhulbahante
were spared because they supported barre.

1. The 1977 War against Ethiopia... the beginning of the end of Somalia
somalia military was still in ethiopia till rebels groups supported by mengisto began force them out.

If it wasnt for these stupid decisions
i blame the rebels groups being to dumb to realise that mengistu duped there asses.
ask yourselve did any of these groups acomplish any of there original goals?

Biggest mistake? Creation of the colonial project Somalia in 1960. We should have all gone back the way we were before the colonist arrived.
No Somalia was not a colonial project but our own. And if we just went back to our tribal sultanates we would have gotten conquered by Abyssinia or worse by Salafi Arabs.

Rather be Somalia then be ruled by anjabi in my own homeland

You don't know history about SSDF. Abdillahi Yusuf was the only rebel group leader to be arrested by Menguistu he only got out because tigray overthrew menguistu and released all political prisoners in jail. Abdillahi Yusuf he saw where all this was heading and refused to partake in it. But guess who did? USC/SNM they continued on the merry way to destroy the country not knowing there was going to be 30 year civil war that we cannot recover from.

If we handed our nation to these dumb clowns, Somalia will be in amharic hands today who will then send they're oromo slaves to settle Somalia bit by bit untill the area is majority ethiopian and declare a referendum on Somalia to join Ethiopia. This is what SNM/USC didn't see, that's why they should really allow darod to rule who do see these things way before they do. Your going to lose your land like 'dire dawa' did lose indeed it's land by following amhara, they have no love for u, they will just plant oromos to migrate to you like dire dawa and claim it for themselves.

Abdillahi Yusuf had a change to unite with uic and ending the civil war in 2006 but he didn't and sticked with jav and tplf. now failmaajo is pulling mjs out of the fgs, rolling the clock back to centralism and thereby removing Abdillahi Yusuf effort.

And in the process instigating civil war.

The biggest mistakes in Somali politics of all time

2007 - Creation of AMISOM

2006 - Ethiopian Invasion

1991 - Civil war

1988 - Atrocities in North West Somalia

1978 - Atrocities in North East Somalia

1969 - Murder of the President

1968 - Parliamentary election (64 parties fighting for 123 seats o_O)

That's only a few

We were dirt poor before the so called "wahabism" and we are dirt poor now. It's easy to play the blame game and it's hard to self reflect and see where we went wrong

uic had better governance and removed power from the warlords.
there weren't good but atleast they were nationalistic and anti-ethiopian.

Yes but at the end of the day it was inevitable that world powers would disrupt it. Myself believe in islamic law however wouldn't join a union with the uic. There were no allied world powers to protect the uic
