No Longer Somali

I’m past caring tbh. Come to think of it, I never thought to myself, “Will Somalis accept me?”

There are Muslims in my family, so of course I accept them, or anyone of any faith for that matter, but I’m not losing sleep god forbid a stranger on the net says I’m not Somali. Not that it was something I’d ever heard happened

I’ll most likely end up outside the community anyway. And Somalispot has taught me what y’ll think of that.

I dont get your way of thinking. You make it seem like the man you end up with will define what you are. I never heard a white american day im married to a black woman so im outside my community. You come from generation after generation of somalis who played a role in where you are today. Seems bit disredpectful to throw that away and seek another community to take you in. Not that they will anyway. I always believed a person who dont know his roots and history is a lost person

I don’t think that at all. No, that’s what the plural you think, ie, the Somali community. One way or another, whether through what I believe or whom I date, I’m “outside the community”. It is what it is. I’ll live my life.

I cant decide who is somali or not. Your dad and mum is somali. I just thought saying I will end up outside the community anyway. Real talk vix partners come and go. Dont forget your roots. Somalis are no different from anyone out there. No community really accept outsiders as their own fully. I had a friend who even changed his name to fit in. But he still look somali and when people asked him where you from he used to say his home town. Until a white guy asked no whats your background and he says my parents are somalis and the bold white guy say so you somali. I could see it hurt the guy. We not friends anymore lol

Life is like a show, fam. It must go on. Somali or not, I don’t care. This shunning for personal decisions is just not my rodeo. I’m not fighting it. It’s not what matters.

So long as you’re happy with yourself and what you’re doing, and you’re fully accepted by a group of individuals in your life for all of you, that’s all we ever need as humans. So many people hide who they are and live miserable lives. I hope the guy you’re talking about finds something of that, but it won’t happen until he accepts himself.

Ok fair enough. But you said somalispot has taught me what you all think. So what is said in here had some sort of effect on you. Thats why I said when one dont know their background and history, others will define it for them. Knowledge is power

Knowledge is power. It still doesn’t change what I believe or who I date. Anyone who’s that impressionable isn’t really being themselves. Life is short.

I’ve never met any, I like to think of myself as an open minded person, but when comes to apostates, I can never understand their point of view. It’s like they heard Islam as Chinese whispers, or were taught Islam in the jungle. Never will I ever understand why people leave Islam.
Obviously. Because you never met any.

Somalia was better in the 1930s when women could dress how they want. Somali women today dress like Arabs, sadly.

A somali gaal doesn't exist in the real world, I would love to meet these leprechauns hiding in their lucky pots.
