Kenya's plan against Somalis rapidly advancing at UN (with Etiopian help)

Kenya has a multi pronged plan of attack against Somalia

One of these plans is to get a seat for Kenya at the UN security council, so it can then get a binding resolution from the UN security council telling Somalia and Kenya to reach a settlement outside the International Court of Justice

This is because the UN Security Council can issue binding mandates and ranks higher than the Court of Justice in International Law

Kenya will then not be bound by the judgement of the Internal Court of Justice!

Looks like Somalia has been outsmarted, outplayed and outfoxed by the Kenyan government (with Ethiopian help in Addis Ababa)

f*ck f*ck f*ck theyre gonna get the coastline :damedamn::browtf::dwill:

This was a nomination, Kenya would never be allowed on Security Council lol

The Somali government needs to get the Arab League, Organisation of Islamic countries to vote against Kenya at the UN so that it does not get a seat at the UN security council

But the useless foreign ministry is too focussed on sabotaging and interfering with Somaliland

When their ABSOLUTE priority should be Kenya's plan to take the coastline and isolate Somalia diplomatically

Braindead motherfuckers in Mogadishu calling themselves a government :drakewtf:

It has a really good chance, with 52 countries backing from the African Union

+ USA and UK are backing Kenya

China has huge investments in Kenya so will be neutral

Russia has no interests in Somalia so will be neutral

It looks a dead cert

Kenya will only get a temporary seat (not a permanent seat) but they only need a few weeks to draft a resolution and put it before the UN security council. They are playing a game here and have a very specific goal

Kenya was in the security council before lol TWICE btw. 1973 – 1974 and 1997 – 1998. There's only 60 countries that haven't been in the council yet. Kenya is the only African nominee unless I'm mistaken, they're going to get the seat.

You guys do realise this is a simple Web search away..........

Simple errors like this are excusable when done in person but not when it took me 30 seconds to see when Kenya was on the council.

Get the non permanent seat the UN security council, and I quote from their article from the Kenyan foreign minister

"The UN Security Council is the only UN body with the authority to issue binding resolutions on member states. All member states are obliged to comply with its decisions. Kenya hopes that its membership... will help with conflict resolution in the event of a falling out after the International Court of Justice verdict".

Africa is allowed 3 non-permanent members at the security council. One from each sub region in the continent. West, East and South. Kenya is hoping to get the East Africa seat. It has the backing from the EAC countries so likely will get the seat.

You're very simple minded. No offence but you are. Arabs don't have a track record of political unity. Why would they work together for once and forget their personal beefs to help Somalia? They won't even help their own. You do realise Kenya has Muslims who aren't somali. Hard to use Islam to save you when Kenya can prop up a Muslim puppet faster than you can organise this muh ummah union.

What's funnier is your belief that there's even a single competent person in all of somali politics. You think the same government that's the most corrupt in the world, which sold a war veteran for hugs with an enemy and was happy to give Kenya the coast a few years ago, is magically going to be functional in a way shape or form now?!?

Yh they'll get the seat. They've got it 2 times before.

A good heart is great. But good hearts don't build nations.

I'm not saying I'm the saviour at all. I don't have a messiah complex. However I will create the foundation for a generation of saviours. Too bad somalis don't understand logic or politics. I made a thread which could have "red polled" dozens if not hundreds of people and its put into the "off topic" section. The least I can do is have loads of kids and teach them this.

The maritime case is ending in a few weeks. Kenya won't get their seat on the security council until 2021. I don't think they will be able to do anything about the sea because the case will be long closed by then.

Since you seem to know this stuff, will the Kenyan plan work? Is there any basis in International Law for what they're planning?
International law is what the winners say it is. The rules are made by the victors. If the oil companies think Kenya owning that portion is a safer investment than Somalia then they'll take it.

If you look at it objectively it's somali. Kenya is doing some btec gerrymandering to force their hand. Their claim is illegitimate.

But that's not how things are done in the world. Politics is not fair. Kenya will play its cards and if it does it right, it will at the very least prevent any drilling by Somalia in the triangle. Most likely it will end with a kangaroo court or Somalia getting the rights to the soil but Kenya selling it to the Chinese anyways. In that case China will take what it wants and Somalia will cuck and obey.

I don't understand. If the court rules that the waters belong to Somalia, then isn't the case closed? Are they going to revive a case that has already been ruled on by the ICJ and bring it before the UN once again?

Even if they somehow accomplished that, they cannot erase the ICJ ruling. It will always be there as precedent and will be used as a basis in future cases by Somalia, in addition to the mountain of evidence that we currently have. In other words, Kenya would not be able to keep the waters forever if they stole it.
