Watch the video before you comment "why are they playing a Bantu song in the background" because Somali songs are being played during the wedding dances..

They were playing some African songs as well. I never saw that at regular Somali weddings.

I think these American JRWs will eventually assimilate into the African-American community and forget about being affiliated with Somalia sooner or later.

Just like Jews in America don't care about Poland, Belarus, Lithuania or wherever their family migrated from.

Yes I noticed a lot of them hide where their parents immigrated from on social media sites. They claim to be from Tanzania/Kenya but you can tell their are from Somalia because they are from Maine/Ohio and they have Arabic names.

I wonder if it's the same with cadcads, I remember we had a cadcad guy on this site who was very Anti Somali/Somalia but I've met some pro Somalia irl

Inshallah. They're better off being AA in America than Madows in Somalia. They have no reason to go back.

But it's a nice wedding I won't lie.

@Lukaku

They played “Somali songs”, aren’t their songs Somali? You sound like the Mad Mullah.
A lot of members make a post after viewing 30 seconds of the clip posted.

I said Somali songs was played during the wedding or else some users would comment why is Bantu song being played in the background?

:comeon:

Lol I've seen African and Cribbean songs being played quite a few times at weddings.

I once fell in love with a Somali Bantu girl, but she was suppossed to marry her cousin, so we could only date in secret. Her family were friends, and when they uncovered our relationship, they believed we would run off even though I was 14 at the time. Shes now married to her cousin

Somali Bantus practice very strict marriage practices, and are very very heavy on cousin marriage. Most of my Somali Bantu friends, both boys and girls, have married their first cousins even though they were all born in the US

This is why Somalis will certianly be African Americanized before Somali Bantus. Its also usually the Somali kids that you usually cant tell from African Americans except the girls. The Somali Bantu kids can act alot like African Americans, but their marriage patterns are still very insular and strict, and their US born kids obey their parents wishes in marrying their first cousins or within the Somali Bantu at minimum. This is why it is rare to see a young Somali Bantu marry outside of the Somali Bantu, or outside Somalis. They almost all marry at a young age, from 17 - 23

I see far more Somalis marrying out and generally disobeying their parents than the Somali Bantu. Even the worst Somali Bantu kids eventually cave to their whatever their parents demand

They are also less criminal than Somalis, and much more welcoming. Like others said here, many of their kids also don't identify with Somalia, but with Kenya. But they associate most with Somali fobs, but not with Somali American kids

Recently alot of my Somali male friends and relatives have married Somali Bantu girls. These marriages are becoming more common even in the diaspora, and make sense because usually its Somali young men that interact with Somali Bantu youth in the diaspora

Interesting observation.

I've always assumed Somali bantus were not strict with marriage & against marrying out. However, I'm aware of their religiosity as a community & are generally a very good people.

Indeed brother.

However I would say their religiousity and insularity is most of the time just high cultural conservativeness. Indeed many Somali families are very religiously devout and conservative, and many are making the transition from Somali Bantu cultural conservatism to Islamic religious conservatism. There are alot of Somali Bantu shiekhs and uleema nowadays, both in Somaliweyn and the diaspora. Somali Bantu shiekhs are also overrepresented in Islamist insurgencies in Somalia.

Their families are very stable and Somali Bantu family ties in the diaspora are stronger than ours, both tribal and familial.
