The Somali way of drawing water is very different from all Arab methods I saw

The Fulani method is far more similar to the Somali, but still very different. The well wheel that Bedouins and Fulanis use looks prevalent in older water wells in the Middle East, West Africa, and North Africa but not as present in Somali regions

The Somali method is very distinctive, the most distinctive method of drawing I have seen yet. I think that the other Sam ethnicities have the Somali method or something similar, it could actually even be a proto Sam tradition

This also shows more evidence that just because Somalis and Arabs both herd camels, they are in no way similar. The camel culture for both groups is very alien to either side, and grew up in complete isolation from each other from a possible common origin. Despite closer geography, Sudanese camel cultures are more much similar and even identical to Arab ones than the Sam and Somali camel culture

Hey @Samaalic Era, what does Samaalic mean?

Can I use that word to describe the language family that Somalis belong to, along with Rendilles, Jiddu, Garres and others? I assume thats what it means

And what do you think about how Somalis should orient ourselves ethno linguistically? Like instead of pan-Cushitism, we insteas focus on a pan-Samaalic pan-ethno-nationalism/racialism

Those other tribes are numerically extremely small and culturally even more alien than Oromos. The Rendille have adopted Samburu Nilotic culture and the Boni have adopted Hadza-like culture and admixed substantially with maroon (ex-slaves) from Southeastern Africa.

I don't see the point of seeking unity with them given their tiny numbers and extremely odd cultures.

Also, many of them are not paternally Samaale. The Rendille have high levels of E-M329 (Omotic line - never found in ethnic Somalis) and the Bon have lots of B2b & E-M2 from Southeast Africans. Hardly Samaalic these people.

As for the Garre, they already identify as ethnic Somalis and are ancestrally much more similar to mainline Somalis.

Samaalic comes from the name Samaale, similar to the terms Abrahamic or Noahic which are derived from Abraham and Noah.

I prefer the term to describe somalis and other descendants of Samaale including Rendile who are Maqare Samaale. The Somali language should be described as a Samaalic language

what evidence do u have that the rendille are maqarre samaale?

Apparently the former president of chad habre claimed this himself that there were lost gurgura and garre in Chad when he visited Mogadishu in the 80s. I have no evidence tho and I doubt there’s any garre on this site
