If a product usually is exported to other regions loses its value (meaning the price drops) in this case the produce is to expensive to export to PL and stays within SL. Which means the revenue goes down for the bussines and the SL gov need to step up and protect their entrepreneurs.
If the export produce loses its value it means that the tariffs worked.

Listen, trade tariffs hurt both ways. It will hurt a supplier but will also increase the demand. It's not like there are 10000 companies that are getting hurt lol. For example UAE prioritizing Berbera Port for import of livestock is highly troubling for Puntland as they want Bosaso Port to be used.

PL wants to be less reliant on companies from SL such as companies that sell water bottles and more. So to deter this "trend" of relying on SL companies they put in place a ridiculous trade tariff.
What happens when the companies stop selling product to PL is that the demand increases. Which in turn can spike the current prices in PL. Hence it hurts both ways and this is just one of the ways.
