Don’t think that’s true. Travel by sea is far easier and cheaper than travel by land, so it would be more likely that northern Somalia has closer links to southern Yemen than with Axum. Even up to colonial times, southern Yemen and northern Somalia had close trade links but we didn’t really have trade links with habeshas.

Somalis should have built qanats as well, that would have been far more reliable than small dams/catchments as the water wouldn’t be lost to evaporation. Especially the ones around northern sanaag, which would have ample water resources from the mountains.
Lol Christianity likely only had a presence in Northern Somalia. Whereas, the rest of Somalia was predominantly Waaqist, especially in the South.
