They also defeated a menalik invasion
At the Battle of luuq menalik had just captured harar and was advancing at the time

Not true, they were repulsed in 1905 by sheikh barsane as well
By then, Ethiopia and Italy already drew their respective borders.

What was more likely is that a small Ethiopian raiding party entered into Italian territory to raid and were unsuccessful.

It had nothing to do with Europeans. Your insecurities have surpassed personal and lately you’ve been trying to offload it onto Somali history.

I actually found the original source. The Ethiopian wasteman editted Wikipedia because he couldn't accept that major L. Menelik actually sent 15 thousand forces, not 11 thousand lol.

"The British, Italians, and Ethiopians partitioned Greater Somalia into spheres of influence, cutting into the previous nomadic grazing system and Somali civilizational network that connected port cities with those of the interior. The Ethiopian Emperor Menelik's Somali expedition, consisting of an army of 15,000 men, made a deep push into the vicinity of Luuq in Somalia. However, his troops were soundly defeated by the Sultanate of the Geledi, with only 200 soldiers returning alive and at the same time his survived soldiers were heavily traumatized. The Ethiopians subsequently refrained from further expeditions into the interior of Somalia but continued to attack the people in the Ogaden by plundering the nomads of their livestock numbering in the hundreds of thousands."

@Crow @Shaolin23 I was wrong, it was actually 14,800 that got bodied in one battle.

Yes I’ve read that Wikipedia quote before, but it’s hard to find how truthful it is given the only reference for it is:

Divine madness : Moḥammed ʻAbdulle Ḥassan (1856-1920)

And since it’s a relatively unknown book, finding it online is impossible.

They are reading the falsified Wikipedia pages. Luling and Mukhtar are the proper sources for this material, but they have been intentionally misquoted in Wiki.

This is from the real Luling (Somali Sultanate, 2002, page 27):

After the Biimaal killed Yusuf and defeated his army at Golwiin in 1848, the Geledi divided the sultanate, sending one Suldaan to each corner of their holdings. Axmed was at Afgoy, Abukar at Buulo Mereer and Abiikar at Buur Heybe. Note this triangle, on the west bank of the Shabelli. The balance of the South was held by competitors, enemies and sometime allies. The Geledi never achieved their goal of holding the port at Munghia. They never got out of interior Somalia.

After Axmed was killed at Cagaaran in 1878 the Geledi had no significant power left. Cusmaan had no allies and barely controlled the Geledi triangle, even though the Suldaans of Buulo Mereer and Buur Heybe maintained their titles into the 20th century.

According to I.M. Lewis

"Beginning in 1893, Luuq was attacked by Ethiopian raiding parties travelling down the Juba only when the Italian explorers Vittorio Bottego and Ugo Ferrandi arrived in 1895 were the Ethiopian attacks successfully repelled.[2"

Wikipedia is not an actual historical source. Those are listed at the bottoms of the individual articles. In the case of the Somali pages, as demonstrated, these have been falsified. Either get the actual sources or get out of here. Period.

You can get Luling at Loohpress:

https://www.loohpress.com/

Cassanelli,, Reese, Mukhtar, Lewis, etc. are easily available at Amazon.

I am a White American, a former Peace Corps English teacher from 1966-67. Also, I am a student of Somali history who strongly dislikes the fake stuff that Factz and Geeljire are peddling. Stick to real sources and real history or I will be on your tail too.
