What about the Irish refugees 120 years ago? The ones who fled the potato famine? I know initially the Irish had high crime rates, but it dropped dramatically over the years. There were plenty of Jews who fled their country in the 1930s when Hitler took power, scattering all over the world and yes, many of them were rejected and sent back to Europe. But they were still refugees.

Also, Eritrean refugees have shown very low rates of crime compared to other groups and manage to settle down in a community in just a few years.

And plus, you want to talk about economic migrants, but this was 100 years ago. How many of these people even had a high school diploma? Or any marketable skills? Most of the migrants who came to America in the past were dirt poor, couldn’t speak English, and had to learn everything from scratch once they arrived in America.
