Anyone in Medicine and Engineering(Of Any Kind) at Research level on here?

QueenSamaale,

As for Death Note. The concept in the series is deeply alluring and that is where the suspense comes from. The ability to kill someone by simply writing their name on the shinigami notebook. The concept of right and wrong in executing the grants given in the notebook gets testy as you watch it. You struggle with it as you watch right? Some guys who watched notebook even wished the villain didn't die and succeeded. I myself felt bad for him but in the end came stronger on the moral side that you can't kill your way to justice all the time.

You are right. I too am amazed at how an individual can sit somewhere and come up with super good story line like that. The same with the ability of good writers who leave us mesmerized in their fiction.

All i can say is, The God who created mankind shows himself through our abilities and in that we should recognize his powers and ingenuity, his wisdom and love for human beings by granting them the ability to make use of their brain for good and enjoy life.

That piece of fatty material protected by strong enclosure in our head is amazing. It is the source of all joy and progress as much as it sometimes becomes the source of tremendous suffering.

Anyway, you noticed, I talk much. You asked for it. At least my English is simple unlike Inquisitive who drunk the ink from the oxford English dictionary.

:lolbron:

Nooo! I wasnt trying to say intellectuals can't be anime fans. Its because I get intimidated and feel like Im not worthy of commenting anything. And your English is far better than mine, your articulate posts make you sound like a genius. I can't keep up:wowsweat:.

I liked how you schooled that "i farted on the Quran" boy on the other thread. As for the ladies, intelligence is in the top of the list, so no worries on your part. You tryna wife someone up, eh?:lolbron:

Nice to meet you too, brother.

P.s. if your English is so good, how am I gonna survive him.:liberaltears:

Thanks for the compliments sis. Don't feel a stranger from now on. We all have some good things to share. No one is perfect.

I asked some of my seniors at my work if they know how much the machine costs. Only the manager would know the exact figure but they estimated it to be around $400,000.

The most expensive machine we operate costs a million plus.
Interesting. Yeah, I realised such equipment can be costly.

Yea. We charge researchers from universities and private companies for access to our equipment and expertise. We also rely on grants and funding to buy these expensive equipment and maintain them from the proceeds.

The good days for us is when america is headed by pro-science administration. The emergent power is anti-science led by Trump so we are at risk of losing our resources a little. The state steps in to help but does not have the purse power of the Federal Gov.

America is destined to become a third rate country if the Trumpkins dominate the future. Europe is doing worse. They always did worse anyway.

btw, I only realized now how to read your name on close examination. I was trying to read it as if it was an English word before and the word did not register. No wonder. It is the Somali word for "the day after tomorrow".

I used to hear Saadambe iyo Saakuun. Don't know what Saakuun meant for sure.

Saakuub: the day after the day after tomorrow. Thinking about it that may have made for a more interesting choice of a username.

Europe doing worse?

America was the example Europeans looked up to in terms of integration and fair system to all citizens. America was the reason racist governments had little foothold in the politics of Europe. Now that America is mired in crisis after crisis of its own government making, openly practices racism, European racists are emboldened and coming into political power. We hope to reverse the tide in America first and Europe will fall in line once again.

In terms of science, America led the way always because of its open immigration system. Most start-up companies, research and development institutions, low wage jobs, middle career professionals, were all filled by foreigners and immigrants who entered the US legally as students and refugees. You can always trace a prominent person's lineage to a second generation immigrant or first generation immigrant in America.

Steve Jobs is a good example of that talent. His father still lives in Las Vegas I think and is a Syrian citizen.

That source of talent and manpower is drying up fast now and most people would prefer to go to another country. Europe is not faring well either. That is what I mean in general.

btw, Saadambe, tell us anything that interests you and you have pursued if you had the chance in education. I came to this field of work without having prior interest in it. It was accidental and through a previous job I held at a high tech manufacturing company. They required a degree in a position I applied for internally, so I hastily registered a major in line with the work before the job interview. I was planning to do a two year radiology technician at the time and taking generals for it. I thank God I did the switch. I learned more than I was required in school on the job. I am still learning.

True. The rise of nationalism will be short-lived (I hope).

What did you study at college? You must have said it, but I didn't see in the OP. Some branch of engineering?

Vacuum technology and process engineering. I posted what this technology is used for in my second post of the thread I think. First page. It is crucial technology for nanonegeering and space, etc, it touches every aspect of technology today. It is mainly used by ICs(Integrated circuits and electronics) manufactring companies. All electronic devices run on components that went through this process in their original manufacturing facility.
